Samsung is not abandoning the ship of its phatablet line of Notes with S Pen. Sources are saying Samsung is really making the Note 8 and its codename is GREAT.
The model number of the Note 8 will be SM-N950F at least for the unlocked version.. Samsung is skipping the number 4 (as the Koreans consider it unlucky) as the Note 7 was SM-N930.
