Chinese Manufacturer  accused  Apple  of pirating its program Siri voice assistant

The U.S. giant Apple computer appeared Wednesday before a Chinese court after being accused by a local manufacturer to copy the program  voice assistant Siri.

Zhizhen Network Technology Co. claims that Apple violated its patent voice recognition software Xiao i Robot. The two sides were to present evidence Wednesday during a preliminary hearing, according to representatives of the Chinese company.

The company ensures that patented Xiao Zhizhen i Robot in 2004, while Siri, which was marketed to output version of the Apple iPhone 4S in 2011, was developed in 2007

The program of the Chinese company, which claims more than 100 million customers in the country, allows applications similar to Apple and works with both iOS brand apple as with its rival Android.

Zhizhen "asked Apple to stop manufacturing and selling products using its patents, once the violation has been established," said If Weijiang, a lawyer for the Chinese company. "We do not exclude the possibility of seeking damages in the future," he added. For its part, Apple refused to make any comment. After the preliminary hearing, the process should take place in July, according to a spokesman Zhizhen.

HP and Samsung Launch New Mobile Print Offering

New Samsung GALAXY S 4 can easily print documents, photos and web pages directly to HP printers
PALO ALTO, Calif. — HP today unveiled a new print offering built within select Samsung devices to provide users an easy way to print directly to more than 180 HP network printer models across the HP inkjet and HP LaserJet portfolios.
The collaboration demonstrates HP’s continued investment and leadership in the mobile printing space by satisfying a common need for today’s mobile user—on-demand, customized printing from virtually anywhere.
Different from current mobile printing apps on the market, the new embedded solution from HP and Samsung requires no setup, tools, drivers or network configurations to adjust on the phone, making mobile printing effortless and convenient. In addition, the print offering is one of the only solutions to offer sophisticated printer settings and options that include duplex printing, color, orientation and paper type. By offering these capabilities and much more, this new mobile print enablement will make printing on the go easier, saving time for the mobile worker and beyond.
Print functionality will be supported with the upcoming release of the Samsung GALAXY S 4 and will be available later this year as a firmware upgrade to the Samsung GALAXY S III and Note II, enabling built-in, wireless printing compatibility.
Users can print in two ways: by automatically connecting their Samsung mobile device and HP printer on the same local network via Wi-Fi, or by using HP technology via wireless direct print.(1)
“Customers continue to look for ways to print from their smartphones and tablets,” said Stephen Nigro, senior vice president, Inkjet and Printing Solutions and Graphics Solutions Business, Printing and Personal Systems Group, HP. “This partnership with Samsung is the latest example of how HP is making it easy to print what you want from wherever you are.”
The Samsung print solution is HP’s latest feature for its mobile print portfolio that also includesHP ePrint.
The built-in print solution works in three simple steps: choose a document, photo or web page ;(2) select a printer (either on Wi-Fi or directly); and hit print. The embedded solution also offers additional, convenient print options for the user, including number of copies, paper size, orientation, paper type, color mode, double-sided printing and job completion status.
Availability and support
The print solution is compatible with nearly 200 HP printer models across the HP inkjet and HP LaserJet printer portfolios.(3)
The built-in print button will be available on many applications of the Samsung mobile devices, including: Email Client, Android Browser, Photo Gallery, Contacts, S Note and Polaris Office.

LG Technology to Debut in Smart Video Feature in Optimus G Pro

Smart Video, a new multimedia UX feature from LG Electronics (LG), will be unveiled for the first time in the Optimus G Pro. Smart Video takes viewing videos on mobile devices to a whole new level of convenience with eye recognition that eliminates the need to manually control playback during the viewing experience.

Through the implementation of advanced eye recognition technology, Smart Video recognizes the position of the viewer’s eyes and automatically plays or stops the video without any manual input from the user. When the viewer’s eyes are no longer focused on the smartphone display, the front camera recognizes this and immediately pauses the video automatically. Once the user’s gaze returns to the smartphone, the video resumes playback from the point last viewed.

In addition to the Smart Video feature, Optimus G Pro will also be equipped with the world’s first Dual Camerafunction. The Dual Camera  feature is an extension of the Dual Recording feature which debuted on the Optimus G Pro introduced in the Korean market last month. Dual Camera simultaneously captures photographs using both the front and back cameras for a picture-in-picture composition. Users can now be a part of the story, not just observers.

  • “LG is continuously innovating to offer creative ways to offer a user experience that adds value to our customers,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.“It’s the positive UX that will differentiate smartphones in 2013 and beyond, not only cutting-edge hardware specs.”

The Smart Video and Dual Camera features will be introduced as a part of the Value Pack upgrade which will be offered for the Optimus G Pro in the Korean market next month. These features will also be made available for some LG premium smartphones in the future.

Other features in the Value Pack upgrade include:
  •
Magic Remote Pad and Text Keypad via the QRemote function. These new options for QRemotework specifically with LG Smart TVs to enhance convenience when using Optimus G Pro as a remote control for LG Smart TVs.

The Smart LED Lighting outlining the home button of the Optimus G Pro will be upgraded so users can customize the colors to correspond to their favorite contacts. The flashing of the LED in different colors will allow users to identify the source of incoming calls, missed calls, unread messages and emails.

Video Pause/Resume allows the user to stop and start in record mode for one continuous video file.

Video: Samsung opted for more software in the fourth generation of its popular Galaxy S

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Samsung opted for more software in the fourth generation of its popular Galaxy S, which allows you to move a page with the look or change songs by simply passing your hand over the phone, some features that seeks to stand up to his great rival Apple.

The South Korean company showed off its might with a spectacular event at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York, which enlisted the help of actor Will Chase as master of ceremonies to unveil the features of its new "flagship" after months of rumors.

As expected, the Galaxy S4 has a five-inch screen, slightly higher than the 4.8 of its predecessor and more than the iPhone 5, but is lighter than the Galaxy S3 with a weight of 130 grams a thickness of 7.9 mm compared to 8.6 mm of the previous model.

During the presentation, which at times was more like a Broadway show than a technology event, the President and leader Samsung mobile communications JK Shin, emphasized innovation of software that has this terminal, mainly its multiple functions "non-contact".

The firm did not disappoint the technology unveil 'Smart Scroll', which can recognize the user's gaze to automatically determine when to start moving the screen up or down, so you do not need to touch the phone to continue reading an article or email. Not only that, this smartphone also recognizes when the user stops looking at the screen, so if you are watching a video or a movie, playback automatically freezes if looks away, and restarts when the coming back to see the video.

"We are committed to innovation, we have listened to people around the world, we asked what progress really want and that effort has led us to where we are today," Shin said in presenting the Galaxy S4, available in white and black from late April with 327 operators in 155 countries.

Plus, the 'Air Gesture' lets change songs, scroll up or down a web page, go shooting or accept a call by simply passing your hand over the phone without touching the screen. The S4 Galaxy integrates the latest version of Google's Android operating system, the 4.2.2, and has a 2 GB RAM and a storage capacity of up to 64 gigabytes, plus a 13-megapixel rear camera (you can do 100 photos in 4 seconds) and a 2-megapixel front.

A new feature in which Samsung was emphasized the device's ability to use both cameras both when taking pictures and videos, so that you can combine the two images that have been taken or that our partner can see also what we're seeing. With an eight-core processor, the phone also has the Knox system, which allows two different profiles on a single device to separate the use of staff, or role 'Play Group', which you can share music or photographs with those around us even offline.

Those are some of the cards that the South Korean company, which broadcast the event live on the giant screens of Times Square flagship, wants to eat part of the power with which the giant Apple has in the United States. And is that Samsung is now the undisputed leader of the global smartphone market with a market share of 30.3% in 2012 (compared with 19% who had in 2011), compared to 19.1% at the account Apple, but in the crucial U.S. market leads the firm that follows Tim Cook at the helm.

The bitten apple company has more than 36% of the market share in this country, while Samsung remains in second place with 21%, so it is not surprising that the South Korean firm chose the Big Apple as a stage to present his flag phone.
