NAB 2012: LiveU’s Handheld LU40i Device Makes High-Profile Debut.

NAB 2012: LiveU’s Handheld LU40i Device Makes High-Profile Debut.

Compact 3G/4G LTE video uplink solution covers Super Bowl XLVI, GRAMMYs, NBA All-Star Weekend, CES, and SXSW Music and Interactive show.

LiveU, the leader in portable video-over-cellular solutions, announced today that its new ground-breaking handheld LU40i device successfully transmitted live video from some of the highest-profile sports, music, and tech events around the US in early 2012.

The New York Football Giants used the LU40i to stream behind-the-scenes coverage of the excitement at Lucas Oil Stadium on Super Bowl XLVI Media Day, bringing the action live to fans at home via Giants.com.

“With LiveU technology, our fans get the kind of direct access to the team that they won’t find anywhere else,” said Nilay Shah, the NY Giants’ Director of Digital Media. “Inside our Locker Room, on the field before games, on the road, and even on the Super Bowl victory parade floats, we have been able to bring exclusive content to our fans in real time.”

Small enough to clip on the camera operator’s belt or be mounted on the camera itself, weighing under 1.5 pounds, and powerful enough to bond up to six 3G and 4G connections for professional HD-quality video uplink, the easy-to-use LU40i enabled the production of unprecedented programming for online viewers.

According to Ken Zamkow, LiveU’s Director of Sales and Marketing, the LU40i’s combination of excellent performance, size, ease-of-use, and cost-effective pricing makes the technology an attractive opportunity for a variety of organizations that traditionally did not produce their own live video.

“The super-portable LU40i creates live video content opportunities that didn’t exist before.” said Zamkow “If your organization has viewers, fans, consumers, customers, employees, partners or any other kind of stakeholder with whom you wish to communicate, the LU40i can be a game-changer for you.”

LiveU’s LU40i also successfully provided extensive coverage of the NBA All-Star Weekend, the 54th GRAMMY Awards events, the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and the SXSW Music and Interactive Festival.

LiveU will present its complete range of portable uplink solutions at the 2012 NAB Show, April 16-19, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth #SU9119.

LU40i specifications are available on the product page at: http://www.liveu.tv/LU40i.html

NAB 2012: ViewCast to Unveil New Products that Increase Video Delivery Capabilities, Lower Costs.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

NAB 2012: ViewCast to Unveil New Products  that Increase Video Delivery Capabilities, Lower Costs.

ViewCast Corporation  will unveil the latest version of its Niagara SCX® comprehensive management software with IP ingest and MPEG-2 TS protocol, and new additions to the Niagara® 9100 streaming system series: the Niagara 9100-4A, Niagara 9100-4AV and Niagara 9100-IP at NAB 2012, April 14-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. These products are aimed at lowering costs and increasing video delivery capabilities for content delivery networks and service providers. The Company will showcase these new products along with its recently released Osprey® 820e dual input card in Booth # SU3219 at the show.

"Not only do these products address industry demand for more flexible and more cost-effective video management solutions, but they also provide us with the opportunity to enter new markets and segments, such as service providers, while expanding our existing capabilities," said John Hammock, President and CEO of ViewCast, a developer of industry-leading solutions that help companies deliver video to broadband and mobile networks.
New Products Lower Costs and Increase Video Delivery Capabilities
The most recent version of Niagara SCX is preloaded on every Niagara system and enhances flexibility and improves the live streaming delivery experience. This solution can also increase the capability of existing systems. For example, customers with legacy systems that only support set top boxes can now easily and cost-effectively add PC and mobile device support. The IP video processor provides the ability to ingest video from an IP stream from either a single or multi-program source while the MPEG-2 TS protocol allows customers to stream video to legacy set top boxes and offer a more simple and less costly option to distribute video in a local area network (LAN).
The Niagara 9100-4A has four analog composite video inputs with unbalanced audio while the AV option on the Niagara 9100-4AV enables the input to be component, composite or S-Video with the audio as either balanced or unbalanced. The Niagara 9100-IP will have two models; one being a redundant version, and can transcode, transmux and transrate video typically coming over Ethernet connections, from satellite or over the air receivers.
Osprey 820e Lowers Costs and Enables Rapid Time to Market
The Osprey 820e is great for education and corporate lecture capture with the ability to ingest video along with a computer interface. This dual input card enables a broader range of cameras to capture digital video and expands the Osprey line by offering a variety of new inputs such as SD or HD analog video, VGA, HDMI and DVI. Prior to this card, customers would have to integrate two cards with two different sets of drivers. The Osprey 820e card lowers the software development costs and enables faster time to market.
"The Osprey 820e card represents a first in the industry for capture of audio, video and VGA on a single card and builds on the solid reputation of our Osprey hardware and drivers," said Adrian Giuhat, Senior Vice President of Product Development and CTO of ViewCast. "Additionally, the new developments included in our Niagara SCX software extend the value of the architecture for existing and new customers."

NAB 2012: CLIPSTER® 3D ahead of its time.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

NAB 2012: CLIPSTER® 3D ahead of its time.

From April 16-19, DVS will showcase its flagship product CLIPSTER® packed with an extended stereoscopic features set. Along with support for mezzanine formats, CLIPSTER® provides massive flexibility, supporting RAW material from several cameras.

At NAB booth SL6815, DVS will present version 5.0 of its award-winning
DI workstation CLIPSTER® introducing an impressive set of dynamic enhancements and features in the 3D arena. Moreover, CLIPSTER® follows the company’s philosophy of openness, maximizing its number of supported formats and codecs.

CLIPSTER® makes working with stereoscopic workflows much easier and guarantees incredible time savings. At NAB 2012, visitors to the DVS booth will experience a sophisticated 3D workflow thanks to CLIPSTER’s integrated STAN (Stereoscopic Analyzer) software and thanks to its state-of-the-art hardware and software set-up. STAN’s exceptional algorithm analyzes and corrects the 3D material geometrically, including keystone correction. The handling of independent streams and their perfect synchronization offer time-savings even when processing tasks with the highest frame-rates. Users can apply the overlay’s difference and anaglyph modes to control the result, or consult the 3D depth histogram for quickly readable depth allocation – including configurable thresholds for maximum disparities.

Along with its acclaimed Digital Cinema Mastering Tool, CLIPSTER® supports mezzanine files such as IMF (Interoperable Master Format, in line with the latest published specification from IMF/ETC), providing the digital master as a file package with different video, audio, subtitles or closed caption tracks. The integrated SOAP (Service Oriented Architecture Protocol) interface provides automated control from third-party applications.

In combination with RAW cameras, CLIPSTER® assures massive flexibility – e.g. by supporting RAW material from RED®, ARRI and now also Sony cameras. The CLIPSTER® accelerator board easily decodes, demosaics, and processes RAW content faster than real-time.

Furthermore, CLIPSTER® supports formats like Panasonic AVC-Ultra, Sony SR, Apple ProRes 422 and Avid DNxHD®, and is capable of reading and writing OpenEXR. Equipped with state-of-the-art hardware, CLIPSTER® offers tremendous security and speed.

Stefan Albertz, Product Manager at DVS: "The growing market for DCP along with increasing digital demands has led us to equip CLIPSTER® with new, exciting and first-class enhancements. Besides DCP, which has established itself for the distribution of cinema content, IMF is going to become another major format which is also supported by our future-oriented systems.”
