Yesterday Pilotev told us that "Today LG unveiled first webOS-based smart TVs in Russia  on webosnation forums and we took the liberty to contact Eldar Murtazin who is Russian too, like Pilotev, and Eldar who is very known as a good source of leaked information, confirmed on a tweet, that the information is true. 

We don`t  know details yet of this unveil in Russia from LG Electronics,like models,sizes, prices, where LG will sell them, but in the midtime those are great news for LG expanding markets of webOS on TVs. Don`t you think?

LTE: Russia: Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) launches LTE FDD network in Tambov.

Russian mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has announced the commercial launch of its LTE FDD  network in Tambov and the Tambov region. Operator is currently rolling-out LTE networks throughout Russia and plans to over around 600 population centers of the Russian Federation by the end of 2014 .

MTS has deployed LTE networks covering the whole territory of Tambov and plans to further double the number of base stations in the city by the end of 2013. MTS will also extend coverage to additional population centers of the Tambov region.

Previously, MTS has launched commercial LTE TDD and FDD networks in Moscow.

Yota Devices hopes its dual-screen smartphone, combining a traditional LCD screen and an electronic-paper display, will break the mold of mobile technology.


Although it seems that the market is already divided, sales forecasts of smartphones leave no one indifferent and the Russian company Yota device reaches the market ready to put a dent in the next generation smartphone.

And to do nothing better than to propose a truly innovative product that breaks with established patterns, such as a dual-screen terminal, LCD one hand and the other electronic ink.

Vladislav Matynov, CEO of the company believes that the majority of terminals on the market are "boring" and that its proposal is intended for those who "want to be out of the box," he told The Wall Street Journal.

Clear that innovation does not come alone, but through the work of 35 engineers and an investment of $ 25 million for the concept has become a reality, something that can be seen at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next February .

The market will not come until the third quarter of next year, first in Russia and then extend to other international markets "in cooperation with global operators."

The terminal, which for the moment has no name, is based on Android and its price is around $ 400 to $500, in line with other models in the market. The competition will be tough, no doubt, but is confident because Matynov large manufacturers "have not innovated in the last five or six years."

The Device Yota responsible explains that the great advantage of the design is that it allows users to view constantly all kinds of data in real time without having to be putting your terminal sleep mode, which ensures long battery life. The secret? The electronic ink display that we have mentioned before, it is none other than the one used in e-books like the Kindle or Sony eReader.

Yota says both the colour LCD and black-and-white e-paper displays would be 4.3in (10.9cm) in size, and placed on opposite sides of the device's body.

Ericsson and Russian operator MegaFon have announced plans to work together to develop M2M wireless communications. 

The use of Ericsson’s cloud-based Device Connection Platform as well as consultancy and systems integration support from the Swedish infrastructure giant will allow MegaFon to offer M2M connectivity to enterprises and tap into new revenue streams.

Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has launched LTE services in most of Moscow and 40 population centers in Moscow regions. Nokia Siemens Networks announced that it is the sole vendor for the TD-LTE network launch and a range of comprehensive services. As part of the network, the company has provided its Single Radio Access Network (RAN) and Liquid Core based Evolved Packet Core (EPC).

MTS is focusing on achieving LTE coverage in 96% of Moscow by the end of 2012 and also plans to double the coverage in Moscow provinces from the current level of coverage in 40 towns.

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks has provided its Single RAN platform, based on its compact, energy-efficient Flexi Multiradio Base Station for the TD-LTE network. The company has migrated MTS’ complete network from WiMAX, deploying 2,200 advanced, multi-technology base stations from its mobile broadband offering. Nokia Siemens Networks has also provided its Liquid Core based Evolved Packet Core (EPC) platform, including Flexi Network Server (NS) and Flexi Network Gateway (NG).

In addition, the company has provided its New Technology Home Location Register (NT-HLR) and Home Subscriber Server (HSS).

  A shareholder reshuffle at Russian operator MegaFon is to see the firm pay-out US$5.15 billion in dividends to its three main owners and pursue an IPO in London. The operator separately announced it had switched on its first LTE network in the city of Novosibirsk, claiming to be the first of the ‘big three’ Russian firms to offer a commercial 4G service.

The agreement ends a long-running ownership dispute between MegaFon's main shareholders and will also see Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov’s AF Telecom take majority control of the firm, buying-out Altimo’s entire holding and a portion of the shares held by TeliaSonera.

In a statement, the shareholders said that the London listing would happen “as soon as practically possible,” involving up to 20 percent of MegaFon's shares, of which TeliaSonera and MegaFon will contribute with up to 10.6 percent and 9.4 percent, respectively.

“By reaching an agreement with the two other partners, whereby MegaFon will pursue an IPO and adopt an agreed dividend policy, we have resolved the ownership disputes and found a way to increase both the liquidity and value of our asset,” said TeliaSonera CEO Lars Nyberg.

TeliaSonera’s current ownership in MegaFon is 43.8 percent, of which it holds 35.6 percent directly and 8.2 percent indirectly through its 26.1 percent ownership in Telecominvest (TCI). As part of the new agreement, AF Telecom will acquire TeliaSonera’s shares in TCI for US$1.45 billion, while Altimo will receive US$5.2 billion (including dividends) from MegaFon for its current 25.1 percent stake. TeliaSonera will receive SEK22 billion (US$3.3 billion) in total, including a SEK12.4 billion dividend payment.

Following these deals, TeliaSonera will own 35.6 percent, AF Telecom 50 percent plus one share while MegaFon, through its subsidiary, will own the remaining 14.4 percent. TeliaSonera said it aims to keep a long term ownership of 25 percent plus one share in the firm following the IPO.

TeliaSonera and outgoing shareholder Altimo said they would continue to work together in Turkey, where they are co-owners of the country’s largest mobile operator, Turkcell, which is also the subject of an ownership dispute.

MegaFon is planning to deploy 4G networks in Moscow, Krasnodar and Sochi in the first half of the year, and in Saint Petersburg, Samara, Vladivostok, Ufa, Kostroma and some other cities by the year end.

Alcatel-Lucent expands Russian joint venture.

Alcatel-Lucent expanded its joint venture with State Corporation Russian Technologies, Alcatel-Lucent RT, to develop and manufacture LTE components customised for the Russian market. 

The partners will create a research and development centre in St Petersburg, which will be fully integrated with Alcatel-Lucent’s wireless operations and staffed by Russian experts, to “ensure a focus on the development of LTE specific features for the Russian market.”

Russia: Tele2 touts strong Russian subscribers growth.

Telecompaper reports that Russian operator Tele2 added 224,000 new customers in April 2011, to take its customer base to 19.2 million. 


It was said that this proves there is “a solid demand for the company's services, despite lower customer activity in the market and the introduction of 3G services by competitors.”
