It's not all good news. The update is only available to those who forked out for a SIM free Samsung Galaxy Note, as those who have a network locked handset will have to wait for the carrier's approval.
In a statement, Samsung explained, "Samsung UK can confirm that the [Android 4.0] Ice Cream Sandwich update for Galaxy Note has been released and will be available when approved across the networks."
We've been in touch with the mobile networks for update timings, but are still waiting to hear back at the time of writing.

Adobe Flash Player 11.1 is compatible now with Android 4.0  ICS.

The company has made the platform available for download via the Android Market, where users will find it as version 11.1.111.7 if their devices run Player Android 2.x or 3.x, or as version 11.1.115.7 if the device is based on Android 4.0. 

The release notes for the new application flavor shows that there are some performance improvements that users will benefit from, along with fixes for issues related to security and stability.

Moreover, the release notes show that the latest update to Adobe Flash Player 11.1 offers compatibility with Android 4 supported devices.

2012: Google Nexus tablet will affect sales of branded Android 4.0 tablets PCs vendors.

Google's plan to release its own tablet, the Google Nexus, in the next six months may cause conflict with branded PC vendors who are cooperating with Google to launch Ice Cream Sandwich-based tablet PCs in the first half of 2012, according to sources at the PC industry in Taiwan.

Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt revealed the company's roadmap for the Google Nexus during a recent interview with the media in Italy.

A major concern of the local PC industry is that the Google Nexus is likely to run on Android 4.1, while those Ice Cream Sandwich models to be rolled out in the first half of 2012 are to be powered by Android 4.0 - a development which is likely to cause deferred effects in the purchase of Android tablet PCs by consumers, the sources argued.

Asustek Computer has launched Android 4.0 tablet PCs, with Acer and Lenovo to release comparable models in early 2012, the sources indicated. Those Android 4.0 models can be upgraded to Android 4.1 when the new OS is available.

However, the dominance of iPads in the tablet PC market and the successful launch of low-priced Kindle Fires and Nook Tablets have forced some PC vendors to review their strategies for their tablet PC lines.

Acer's recent decision to revamp its product lineups aiming to cut its product lines by two-thirds in three years will serve as a warning to the tablet PC industry.

Despite the Samsung Galaxy S is not on the list of Samsung´s smartphones to get the ICS Android 4.0 update yet, although there is a word from Samsung about it:

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has been successfully ported to the Galaxy S thanks to the developers over at XDA, as you can watch on the video below:

The ICS-running Galaxy S is not Galaxy Nexus-smooth, but it’s certainly decent, so there’s no problem adapting this for everyday usage. And the whole update process only takes about half an hour, so you can apply it in your lunch break.

Samsung Electronics and other Android-based handset makers plan to roll out Google's Ice Cream Sandwich update on their mobile devices early next year. Samsung said Tuesday that the platform update, otherwise known as Android 4.0, will be ready for launch on the company's Galaxy S II smartphone and Galaxy Note device during the first quarter of 2012.

Updates for other Samsung mobile devices -- including the Galaxy R smartphone as well as the company's entire lineup of Galaxy Tab media tablets -- are expected to follow soon thereafter.

"For upgradeable models, Samsung will make separate announcements on details of OS updates scheduled for each market according to market situation and carriers' requirements," the company said in a blog.

However, Verizon's long delay in the introduction of the new Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0 demonstrates that wireless carriers need time to fully evaluate the repercussions of major software upgrades running on their networks. Among other things, Ice Cream Sandwich sports a redesigned user interface with improved multitasking functionality and offers support for Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity as well as near-field communications.

Meanwhile, Google's Android juggernaut continues to gather steam.

"There are now over 700,000 Android devices activated every day," said Andy Rubin, Google's senior vice president of mobile, this week. "And for those wondering, we count each device only once, and 'activations' means you go into a store, buy a device, and put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service."

Ingenic JZ4770 SoC

The Ingenic JZ4770 SoC inside of the new tablet is one of the first MIPS-Based systems-on-chips (SoCs) targeted for mobile devices that delivers 1GHz+ frequency, increasingly a requirement for tablets and other devices that incorporate rich multimedia and high-performance applications/functionality. The JZ4770 SoC is powered by a MIPS32 compatible XBurst CPU designed by Ingenic. 

The XBurst CPU core adopts an innovative ultra-low-power pipelining architecture which consumes less than 90mW in 1GHz (with L1 cache), and the entire SOC consumes ~250mW with the CPU and video engine operating under full load. Due to the "large push" (presumably because of all the changes), the roll out is going to take some time to complete -- project members will give the final word when things are good to go. If you try to sync prematurely, be forewarned that you'll get an incomplete copy that will be useless.

That's it! However since this is a large push, please be aware that it will take some time to complete. If you sync before it's done, you'll  get an incomplete copy that you won't be able to use, so please wait  for us to give the all-clear before you sync. 

This is actually the source code for version 4.0.1 of Android, which is the specific version that will ship on the Galaxy Nexus, the first  Android 4.0 device. In the source tree, you will find a device build target named "full_maguro" that you can use to build a system image for Galaxy Nexus. Build configurations for other devices will come  later. 

Unfortunately we still don't have our Gerrit code review servers back online. That remains our top priority though, and we hope to have them  back soon. 

This release includes the full history of the Android source code  tree, which naturally includes all the source code for the Honeycomb  releases. However, since Honeycomb was a little incomplete, we want  everyone to focus on Ice Cream Sandwich. So, we haven't created any  tags that correspond to the Honeycomb releases (even though the changes are present in the history.)

HTC


HTC has confirmed its HTC Rezound smartphone for an Ice Cream Sandwich update.


"While our goal is to upgrade as many of our recent devices as possible, we are committed to maintaining every phone's performance and usability first,” said HTC.


LG


LG has confirmed its Optimus 2X smartphone for an Ice Cream Sandwich update.


“Detailed information on the Ice Cream Sandwich OS update schedule for specific models will be announced,” said LG in a statement.


Motorola
