HP Expands Converged Cloud Portfolio with Optimized Solutions for VMware vCloud Suite.

New solutions enable VMware users to rapidly build, secure and protect hybrid cloud environments.

HP today announced it is expanding its HP Converged Cloud portfolio with new solutions for VMware vCloud® Suite 5.1, enabling clients to transform traditional virtualization deployments into open private and hybrid cloud environments with less risk and complexity.

Introduced in April, HP Converged Cloud extends the power of the cloud across infrastructure, applications and information to provide clients with choice, confidence and consistency. As the industry’s first strategy and portfolio based on a single open architecture, HP Converged Cloud enables the integration of any combination of private, managed and public cloud, as well as traditional IT. This combination provides workload portability as well as dynamic scaling.

HP has helped more than 1,000 clients transition from virtualization to cloud computing with solutions engineered by HP and its partners.⁽¹⁾ The expanded HP Converged Cloud portfolio, built on HP Converged Infrastructure and HP Converged Management and Security, has been optimized for VMware vCloud Suite 5.1, and includes new capabilities that enable clients to:

HP accelerates cloud transformation, management with new capabilities

The expanded HP Converged Cloud offerings include the integration of VMware vCloud Suite 5.1 with HP CloudSystem, helping clients rapidly transform virtualized resources into self-service private and hybrid cloud environments. To accelerate time to value, HP offers customers preintegrated cloud solutions.

Combined with VMware vCloud Suite 5.1, HP CloudSystem doubles virtual-machine density, reduces network complexity and provides flexibility to support any workload.

New HP CloudSystem capabilities integrated with the VMware vCloud Suite 5.1 include:

• HP CloudSystem optimized for VMware—provides faster time to revenue with preintegrated solutions that include HP Converged Infrastructure and cloud management from HP and VMware.
• Auto-flexing feature—reduces response time to business requests and improves overall service levels by enabling VMware administrators to provision hardware for vCloud Director® to automate the scaling of converged infrastructure. With this technology, customers can cut the time required to add a virtual host from four hours to 15 minutes.⁽²⁾
• Virtual-machine importing—simplifies clients’ path to the cloud by easily importing running virtual machines into an HP CloudSystem without downtime or reconfiguration.
• HP Cloud Maps for VMware—accelerates the design of cloud services and automates the deployment of virtual applications using prepackaged, optimized HP CloudSystem templates.

New HP security solutions help overcome barriers to cloud adoption

The expanded HP Converged Cloud portfolio also includes the HP Cloud Protection Program and Consulting Services, which delivers a comprehensive security solution across network, storage and server virtualization layers that can be designed and implemented in less than three weeks.⁽³⁾ The new service identifies an effective mix of HP and VMware cloud-security capabilities that addresses common barriers to the adoption of cloud services, while enabling compliance controls. Management capabilities include cloud, virtualization of the network, and storage virtualization layers.

For VMware clients challenged with addressing the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) in virtual environments, HP also offers the industry’s first converged PCI Compliance Security Solution Stack for virtual and cloud environments. The solution accelerates the path to compliance covering a majority of the 200 security-based PCI DSS controls,⁽²⁾ removing security hurdles associated with achieving PCI compliance and access to cloud.

New enterprise-class data-protection solution extends support to the virtual cloud

HP Data Protector, the industry’s first and only backup and recovery solution supporting federated deduplication for the enterprise, now delivers integrated protection for VMware vCloud Director. This new solution features patented HP StoreOnce deduplication technology, and dynamically provides one-touch policy-based protection for VMware's multitenant cloud environment. These capabilities help vCloud customers and service providers eliminate the risk of data loss from applications, both on premises and now in the virtual cloud.

Availability

Select expanded HP Converged Cloud solutions are available now through HP and its worldwide channel partners; the remaining solutions are expected by the end of the calendar year. HP also will offer all VMware vCloud Suite editions with HP Converged Cloud solutions through HP sales and channel partners in late third calendar quarter.

Turkcell to Become "One-stop Shop" for Cloud Services with HP CloudSystem.

Turkey-based telecom company offers customized cloud service bundles to simplify procurement and usage for enterprise customers.

 HP today announced that Turkcell is using HP cloud solutions to generate new revenue through “as a service” offerings to businesses.

Turkcell, with 34.5 million customers, is the leading communications and technology company in Turkey.

Turkcell is using HP CloudSystem Service Provider to provide its business customers with infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and communications as a service (CaaS). The new offerings are presented to customers in a customized, online marketplace.

With IaaS and CaaS, Turkcell business customers can take advantage of utility pricing and the flexibility of an on-demand services model. Benefits include more predictable operating costs, low capital investment and minimal risk in new technology adoption.

Specific services, such as email, can be easily enabled within HP CloudSystem Service Provider, allowing Turkcell to quickly enter a growing market with business-ready offerings and to achieve an advantage over would-be competitors.

A single software platform that can aggregate numerous as-a-service offerings, the HP solution gives Turkcell the flexibility to adapt quickly to market changes and customer needs. Turkcell launches IaaS and CaaS business 

At a news conference today, Turkcell described its as-a-service offerings:

• IaaS: Turkcell will provide businesses with on-demand access to state-of-the-art IT technologies for servers, storage and networking. Businesses can rely solely on IaaS from Turkcell, or use IaaS to augment on-premise IT resources for peak loads or activity bursts. 
  
  
  The IT infrastructure for the cloud services is hosted within Turkcell data centers and is managed by Turkcell.
• CaaS: The HP CloudSystem Service Provider solution comes integrated with three core communications service families: messaging to increase productivity, collaboration to drive cooperation among remote teams, and business voice to automate and efficiently manage incoming calls.

HP today announced that Bill Veghte has been appointed chief strategy officer.

In addition to his new responsibilities, Veghte will continue in his current role as executive vice president of HP Software.

As chief strategy officer, Veghte will be responsible for keeping HP on the cutting edge of innovation. He will work with HP’s senior business and technology leaders to help define the IT industry’s future and make certain HP continues to lead the way. Veghte’s new role reaffirms HP’s commitment to providing customers with the latest platforms, products and services needed for success in a rapidly changing world.

HP Enterprise Services and Microsoft Corp. today announced a global, four-year initiative to deliver Microsoft’s leading communications and collaboration applications via global private and public cloud services.

Under the agreement, HP and Microsoft will offer private and public cloud solutions designed to help organizations rapidly scale new users, shift IT resources from maintenance to innovation and change IT from a capital to operating expense. The solutions include:

• Private cloud: HP Enterprise Cloud Services–Messaging, HP Enterprise Cloud Services–Collaboration and HP Enterprise Cloud Services–Real-Time Collaboration deliver Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft Lync Server 2010 productivity applications as a service from HP data centers around the world.
• Public cloud: Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft’s Office collaboration and productivity tools, will be delivered by Microsoft through the cloud.

HP today announced it is making up to $2 billion available to help clients finance their way to the cloud.

This offering is made possible by HP Financial Services, the company’s leasing and asset management subsidiary.

The move to cloud-based solutions represents a significant opportunity for organizations to begin their journeys to becoming Instant-On Enterprises that embed technology in everything they do to serve customers, employees, partners and citizens with whatever they need, instantly.

While many chief financial and information officers agree on the transformative power of cloud solutions, they are often challenged to align the investment budgets and return on investment goals associated with implementing them. HP Financial Services’ financing solutions offer business enterprise executives the opportunity to build a financial architecture to match their technology roadmaps to the cloud.

In an Instant-On Enterprise, value is designed, built and delivered in the form of technology-enabled services. Many enterprises recognize there is not a singular model of delivery that can be optimized to meet all core service needs. HP today announced a program for channel partners who want to quickly capitalize on rapidly expanding cloud market opportunities with HP’s broad cloud portfolio.


Unveiled at the HP Americas Partner Conference in Las Vegas, the HP CloudSystem Partner Program provides tools for channel partners to build expert cloud practices by evolving their business models and developing cloud-focused skills. As a result, they can expand their portfolios and increase revenues with cloud solutions that help transform their customers’ businesses.


HP’s new program targets a cloud market opportunity that is projected to grow to $143 billion by 2013.⁽¹⁾ The HP CloudSystem portfolio enables partners to build and manage complete, integrated cloud solutions across private, public and hybrid cloud environments. Resources for channel partner cloud practices include Cloud Centers of Excellence demonstration sites, the Cloud Enablement program, training, PartnerONE incentives and cloud professional services.

HP Cloud Centers of Excellence
HP is expanding the infrastructure solutions for its Cloud Centers of Excellence, which allow channel partners to transform their facilities into cloud demonstration sites. Building on the HP Converged Infrastructure architecture, the centers are based on CloudSystem, which combines HP CloudSystem Matrix⁽²⁾ and HP Cloud Service Automation software for unified building and management of cloud services across private, public and hybrid models. To enhance demonstration capabilities, partners now have the option to add HP Networking products, including HP TippingPoint security offerings, and HP 3PAR Utility Storage solutions to their cloud demonstration centers.


HP also works with channel partners to build cloud ecosystems including independent software vendor applications for specific markets and customer needs. HP channel partners have access to HP Cloud Maps, which are tested and proven configurations for popular applications such as Microsoft® Exchange. The configurations can be imported directly into CloudSystem to rapidly build a cloud services catalog for client businesses. HP plans to include channel partner participation in a broader CloudSystem community to share and sell Cloud Map services.
