Trends: GSM/3G and LTE Market Update

WorldWideTech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Mobile broadband continues to develop and succeed at a phenomenal pace. Over 99% of the world's WCDMA operators have deployed HSPA on their networks, which was achieved in just 5 years.

Migration to HSPA+ was the major trend in 2010 with more than 1 in 4 HSPA networks now with HSPA+ in commercial service.

2010 was also a good year for LTE, with ever-growing operator commitments to deploy networks, more commercial launches, and the future roadmap of LTE-Advanced gaining official approval from the ITU as an IMT-Advanced (4G) technology.

The pace of development for LTE and network deployments are expected to quicken in 2011. In addition to newly licensed spectrum becoming available for LTE (sub 1 GHz digital dividend, and 2.6 GHz) a significant momentum is building for deploying LTE systems in re-farmed existing 1800 MHz spectrum as a strategy of interest to many operators.

Trends: The e-reading consumer habit is about to change or still ?

WorldWideTech & science.  Francisco De Jesús.

According to Amazon the Kindle 3 e- reader device has succeed on sales this holidays.

I was guessing then, what is the way the consumer likes to read ebooks, now when there are a bunch of tablets pc offering e-book stores apps almost on  every brand, and upcoming much more for 2011.

If the consumer likes to focus on reading only, with no distractions on emails notifications, videos, social networking, phone calls , surfing the web etc., that a  smartphone and tablets have, why then to upgrade a e-reading device to a tablet pc, like Barnes and Noble are doing with their Nook Color ? Nook Color upgrade   It is the only e-reader  supplier that is upgrading to tablet, until now.

Maybe just blocking the way to the tablets with e-books sales options, or not having such a success as the Kindle 3 does ?

To early to tell if Amazon is upgrading some time to a tablet pc as well.

What do you think ?

EDITORIAL THE INFLUENCE OF TABLETS PCs IN THE NEW MOBILE WORLD 2011.

WorldWideTech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

As it was expected the next generation of pc boards (tablets) started to explode from the year 2010 and increasing especially this month of December 2010, and has already begun to make their toll on the world market for PC desktops and notebooks and netbooks and will  affect laptops in some way ,as well.

The tablets have started to come out with better services in hardware than the famous iPad from Apple. Some have front Webcam for video chat and digital camera for pictures, with1GHz processors as well, but some will arrive early in 2011 with dual-core processors.

Almost all have usb port, slot or space to insert SD memory cards and increase your storage capacity with high capacity hard drives.

IPad features that has not , for now, and apparently will with the upcoming iPad2 , at least with the webcam and digital camera.

There are many users in the U.S. operator Sprint who are switching from notebook to a  tablet PC. Source:

Their screen sizes vary by brand from 5, 7, 10.1 and up to 11.2 inches, including Dell Streak, iPad, Sansumg Galaxy Tab, RIM Blackberry Playbook, and it is expected HP now who owns the Palm brand launched its Palm Pad (code name Topaz) 2011 with his now famous WebOS the best world operating system for mobile. Although the RIM Blackberry Playbook has copied the famous webOS multi-tasking and swipe touch without buttons. A Legal battle is expected between HP and RIM when RIM officially launched its Playbook for these patents, owned by HP / Palm.

The important question now is: will affect the tablets the demand of high-performance smart phones, if the tablets come with these features phones have.?

A study by Gartner is projecting a change in the market behavior and think that the user will think of purchasing an small phone than a high ended smartphone instead, now that a 7-inch tablet comes with everything you need for your day.

The truth is that the world of communications is also entering the next generation 4G LTE, will in 2011 launch of the tablets 3G/4G to LTE and WiMAX networks. These networks will enable live view video (live streaming) between different devices suitable for this type of activity
• Upload a photo in about 6 seconds
• Download a song in less than 4 seconds.

We see the 2011 as the year of great change in the use of new technologies and consumer habits.

This video made by Alcatel-Lucent of France., made in 2009, shows how the next world will be interconnected via mobile using 4G LTE networks in the 2011 and 2012.
