Nook Color e-book reader to upgrade to tablet PC.

WorldWideTech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Barnes & Noble will upgrade its Nook Color e-book readers to support Android 2.2 OS in January 2011, allowing the book retailer to venture into the tablet PC market.

Barnes & Noble outsources the production of the Nook Color e-book readers to Inventec,Taiwan.

Barnes & Noble's latest Nook Color adopts TPK Touch Solution's touch interface, and has clearly shown the vendor's intention to enter the tablet PC market. Barnes & Noble's action will not only affect Amazon's Kindle, but also bring some competition to PC vendors due to its strong library of content.

Barnes & Noble updating its e-book reader to a tablet PC will make Inventec the leading manufacturer of tablet PCs.
