LG demos LG G5 UX 5.0. Video.
LG is showing some of the new features that are coming on the LG G5 smartphone with its UX 5.0 on the video below:
The first LG OLED WebOS TV produced for Bang & Olufsen to be launched in 2017 for Smart Home integration.
Bang & Olufsen enters a strategic technology partnership with LG Electronics regarding development and production of Bang & Olufsen’s future TV.
Strategic partnership with LG Electronics Inc (”LG”)
As previously announced, Bang & Olufsen a/s ("Bang & Olufsen") initiated a review to identify strategic and structural options to increase scale and further reduce complexity within Bang & Olufsen.
As a result of this review, Bang & Olufsen has entered a strategic technology partnership with LG, one of the world’s largest producers of TVs and a technological frontrunner with its leading OLED technology and WebOS. The agreement entails that Bang & Olufsen will focus on its unique competencies within design, acoustics and smart home integration within TV development, and combine this with LG’s technological leadership within OLED technology.
“This partnership with LG will enable Bang & Olufsen to stay at the forefront of innovation in the TV category, a category which is currently undergoing significant change and which is very important to Bang & Olufsen. The partnership will address Bang & Olufsen’s key challenges related to scale and complexity”,says CEO Tue Mantoni.
The partnership will help solve a key strategic challenge as Bang & Olufsen will achieve technological capabilities and scale needed to improve the long-term profitability of the company. The partnership will allow Bang & Olufsen to focus on core competencies within acoustics and design, while further optimising the company’s supply chain, development, production and service.
The first OLED TV produced by LG for Bang & Olufsen as a result of the partnership is expected to be launched in 2017. Further, the partnership involves collaboration in other areas such as license and product bundle activities.
As a consequence of the partnership, Bang & Olufsen expects to improve gross margins and reduce capacity costs. The agreement has an annual savings potential of DKK 150-200m when fully implemented over the next three years. As such, the partnership is an important step towards achieving the financial targets set out for 2017/18 of an EBIT-margin of approximately 7 per cent and a positive free cash flow.
As a result of the partnership Bang & Olufsen expects to realize restructuring costs of DKK 10 to 15 million, of which up to DKK 5 million will be realized in the fourth quarter of 2015/16. The restructuring costs have not been included in the current outlook for the 2015/16 financial year.
Dialogue regarding a potential launch of a takeover offer.
In continuation of company announcement no. 15.07 dated 26 November 2015, Bang & Olufsen can inform that a dialogue is ongoing with one potential offeror that may or may not lead to an offer for the whole or part of the issued share capital of Bang & Olufsen.
At present, Bang & Olufsen has not entered into any binding commitments, and uncertainty remains as to the outcome of the dialogue with the potential offeror.

Is Microsoft working in a stylus that can sense real world colors and be transported to a digital display?
The most innovations companies work on, the more useful thing the consumers will have. In this case Microsoft might be still working on a stylus that can sense the real world colors and be transported/translated to a digital display.
As the patent was presented in 2014 we are not sure is this work by Microsoft will see the daylight some day in the near future.
The pictures below explain by themselves clearly how it will work: The stylus tip captures/senses the colors of the flower and the leaves and transport/translate them to a digital display.

Israel’s Cellebrite a subsidiary of Japan’s Sun Corp, is helping FBI crack terrorist’s iPhone
Israel’s Cellebrite, a provider of mobile forensic software, is helping the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation’s attempt to unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino, California, shooters, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on Wednesday.
If Cellebrite succeeds, then the FBI will no longer need the help of Apple Inc., the Israeli daily said, citing unnamed industry sources.
Cellebrite officials declined comment on the matter.
Apple is engaged in a legal battle with the U.S. Justice Department over a judge’s order that it write new software to disable passcode protection on the iPhone used by the shooter.
The two sides were set to face off in court on Tuesday, but on Monday a federal judge agreed to the government’s request to postpone the hearing after U.S. prosecutors said a “third party” had presented a possible method for opening an encrypted iPhone.
The development could bring an abrupt end to the high-stakes legal showdown, which has become a lightning rod for a broader debate on data privacy in the United States.
Cellebrite, a subsidiary of Japan’s Sun Corp., has its revenue split between two businesses: a forensics system used by law enforcement, military and intelligence that retrieves data hidden inside mobile devices and technology for mobile retailers..

WHILL Model M powered wheelchair recieved FDA clearance. Video.
WHILL Model M doesn’t hold you back, it powers you forward. With simplistic beauty and revolutionary design, Model M provides mobility in a versatile, stylish and unobtrusive way.
CAUTION: Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician
Press Release:
To the WHILL Community,
Finally! We have received FDA clearance on a new powered wheelchair that will be released in the coming months.
WHILL Model M, which keeps the 4WD, patented all-directional wheels and sleek design of our introductory Model A, was designed with wheelchair users in mind. It can be customized with additional medical necessities including arm supports, different back support options, and ankle huggers. The additional features are not available with Model A, which is not a medical device and will not be submitted to the FDA for clearance.
The FDA's decision involved an extensive review of Model M, and it means that physicians can now prescribe our technologically advanced powered wheelchair as a medical device. In addition, we are planning to apply to Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) to receive Pricing, Data Analysis and Coding (PDAC) so the product can be recognized by insurance such as Medicare.
FDA clearance is inline with our mission to change the perception of mobility devices such as wheelchairs and scooters, which are often stigmatized for having a clinical appearance. Our founders were inspired by their friend, a wheelchair user, who had given up on going even just a few blocks to the grocery store due to his chair's lack of functionality and the stigma he felt as a wheelchair user.
“We are proud to have received FDA clearance,” says our CEO and Co-Founder Satoshi Sugie. “In order to realize our vision of mobility solutions, we need be able to address the millions of mobility device users who are suffering from lack of innovation in the industry. ”
Thank you to everyone that has shown their support for WHILL along the way. We couldn't have made it to this point without you!
