Canada: Bell rolls Out Android 4.0.3 ICS for HTC Sensation and HTC Raider.

Bell Canada announced via Twitter that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is now available for download for HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Raider 4G: “More Ice Cream Sandwich goodness! Android 4.0 is now ready for the HTC Sensation 4G and Raider 4G LTE superphones.



The update is about 310MB in size and can be installed OTA (over the air).

Those who have yet to be notified on the update can manually check for it by going to Settings / About phone / System software update / Check now.


Aside from bringing the phone's software to version Android 4.0.3, the update also upgrade HTC Sense user interface to version 3.6.

It also comes with Face Unlock feature, which integrates face recognition device unlock capability. In addition, it adds Android Beam ability, allowing for fast and easy sharing of content.

Data control management has been included as well, along with enhanced cloud-based connectivity, improved usability and voice tools enhancements.

Bell Canada also plans to release the Ice Cream Sandwich update for a few more Android devices. For example, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is scheduled to receive the upgrade by the end of this month.

Canada: Samsung Galaxy Note White live on Telus, in a few days on Rogers. Next Bell.

The white Galaxy Note has gone live at TELUS and is about to make its debut at Rogers within the next few days as well. Bell will also launch the white-flavored Galaxy Note. 

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Note in glossy ceramic white is expected to arrive at carriers and select retailers across Canada beginning today.

The smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but Samsung stated the Galaxy Note will receive an Ice Cream Sandwich update in Q2 2012.


Moreover, the handset maker promised it will deliver a 'Premium Suite' upgrade that will enhance and add to the features that are already available onto the Galaxy Note and its S Pen stylus.

This enhanced update will be available in the late-spring timeframe, and will offer new features and applications exclusive to Galaxy Note and its innovative S Pen. 

GALAXY Note continues to delight customers with its incredible versatility and unique user experience and we are excited to introduce a new colour of the popular Samsung Galaxy Note to Canadians,” said Paul Brannen, Vice President, Mobile Communications at Samsung Canada. 

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Designed to capture, share and create content like never before, the Galaxy Note combines the power of a tablet with the convenience of a smartphone to bring an all-in-one device to the Canadian marketplace,” concluded Brannen.

LTE: Canada: Bell signs with Huawei for expansion.

Canadian operator Bell Mobility signed a deal with Huawei for kit to support the expansion of its LTE network across the country. 

The operator launched its first LTE services in five areas last September, saying it planned to the roll the technology out across Canada in 2012.

 "Bell is dedicated to building Canada’s broadband infrastructure, investing more than any other company to deliver the latest communications technology to our country," said Bell Mobility president Wade Oosterman.

Canada: TELUS, Bell and Rogers releasing the Galaxy Note February 14th for $249.99 on a 3-year, according to Best Buy

The confirmed carriers to release this Android phone/tablet are TELUS, Bell and Rogers with a “mid-February” availability. 

First out of the gate with the official release date and pricing is big box retailer Best Buy showing the Note will be available to the masses on Tuesday, February 14th for the 3-year contract price of $249.99. Best Buy also notes the Rogers logo on their info page, but doesn’t have any pricing info.

 Missing is the no-contract price points but will most likely be around the $600+ mark. If you want to pre-order the Note can walk into a store and lay down a $50 deposit.

Canada: Bell to launch Motorola XOOM and Atrix in March.

The Motorola XOOM tablet and the Motorola Atrix smartphone Canadian release is scheduled for March on the Bell network, with the Motorola Atrix smartphone rumored to be released on March 17th, specifically. The Motorola XOOM tablet is expected to be released not long after the Motorola Atrix.
