Plays well with other...gadgets
While installing a new LCD TV (a Samsung LN40C630), I noticed a couple of USB ports on the side. The user guide said to connect a thumb drive for playback of music, videos and pictures. A penny dropped for me: My Palm Pre can act as a removable drive, too -- just like a thumb drive.
I connected with a USB cable and selected USB Drive mode on the phone. Now I can play back all the media stored on my webOS phone using the TV. My webOS videos and photos look great, even on the 40” screen. As a bonus, the TV charges the phone while connected. Another bonus: Samsung makes it easy to set up slideshows or play back MP3 files with their standard remote.
If your TV has a USB port, you may have a media player and a place to charge your phone you never knew you had. (Since some gadgets implement USB connections in a non-standard way, we can’t guarantee this will work.)
Of course you can also connect your audio output into anything with an Aux input using a line-in cable. (I’m partial to Stitcher in the kitchen using my Internet Radio as an amp and catching up on audio TED lectures on YouTube via a cassette adapter since my car has no Aux socket.)
