Apple Wins Patent for Inductive Charging Dock similar to the Palm Pre Touchstone.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

Apple Wins Patent for Inductive Charging Dock similar to the Palm Pre Touchstone.

Apple has received a Granted Patent relating to circuits, methods, and apparatus for adapters, such as inserts and cable adapters, and docking stations that include one or more of the following: reradiating antennas to enhance wireless signal integrity, inductive charging circuits, and wireless or optical data links. To date, Apple has yet to debut an inductive charging dock for iOS devices.

charger.

Touchstone.

Apple's patent FIG. 12 illustrates a docking station that includes a reradiating antenna and an inductive charging circuit for inductively charging a handheld device. As shown, the dock housing is configured to receive a handheld device. While the dock housing is shown to receive the handheld device in an upright position, other dock housing configurations for receiving the handheld device along its other sides are also possible. The dock housing is further configured to enable charging the battery of the handheld device through an inductive charge coupling mechanism, and to also provide improved wireless communication by integrating the reradiating antenna as shown. The charge circuit is connected between the inductive charge coupling mechanism and a port for receiving power.

Apple credits Victor Tiscareno, John Tang and Stephen Zadesky as the inventors of this patent which was originally filed in Q1 2008 and published today by the US Patent and Trademark Office. The patent notes application number 11/970,504.

José R. De Souza speaks to Mohamad Itani, Head of Operations and Interim Managing Director for HP Middle East ,this question was made and I found that the HP ePrint Enterprise mobile solution will come for the Palm Pre, Blackberry and Ipad for now. Bellow this question introduction answered, you can read  :

What is HP ePrint,

Why business and our mobile wold need HP ePrint,

Who uses Hp ePrint and  why,

How to get and HP ePrint application

and finally Alliance between Hp and Blackberry.

Printers form an important part of your core business. How are printers evolving to keep up with the changes in computing technology?

HP is constantly evolving, creating and envisaging new technology which revolutionizes the way we print. Computing technology is becoming increasingly mobile, and HP’s new range of web-empowered, cloud-enabled e-All-in-One printers allow users to print from any email device – be it smart phones, iPads, net books – to any new ePrint-enabled printer from anywhere in the world.

Every HP ePrint printer has a unique simple email address that allows the sender to deliver a print in the same way in which they would send an email message. This new technology provides our customers with total printing convenience:  from a mother and son printing drawings from an iPad, to an executive on a train sending a presentation from a Palm Pre or Blackberry Smartphone to print and pick up at a local stationery print shop, HP ePrint allows people to print anytime, anywhere.

HP ePrint makes it possible for BlackBerry® smartphone users to easily print documents, presentations, reports and more, virtually anytime, anywhere.

HP ePrint supports these common file types:
  • Microsoft® Word documents
  • Excel spreadsheets
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • PDFs
  • Image files
  • HTML files
  • Text and rich text files
  • XPS documents
HP ePrint Enterprise solution is a simple, secure solution that allows you to print directly from your e-mail to any of your company’s networked printers.
HP ePrint for printing on the go allows you to print to HP ePrint locations—print and copy retail stores as well as hotels, airport lounges and more—giving you easy access to printed documents wherever business takes you.

Why business and our mobile world need HP ePrint

Today’s business demands a mobile workforce. To remain productive on the go, mobile professionals rely heavily on portable devices such as smartphones. And while smartphones have brought the office to wherever you are, printing from them has been the missing link in the mobile workflow.
Take advantage of HP ePrint—the next step toward complete business mobility:
  • Global mobile phone subscribers are expected to hit 5 billion during 2010. Mobile broadband is forecast to top access from desktop computers within five years.1
  • Mobile worker population will surpass 1 billion in 2010 and reach 1.2 billion by 2013.2
  • Thirty percent of smartphone users revealed that they use their smartphones for business.3
  • Senior executives are demanding more smartphone capabilities.4
  • A recent study anticipates that, “By 2012, all physicians will walk around with a stethoscope and a smart mobile device.

Who uses HP ePrint and why?

Mobile professionals with a BlackBerry smartphone can print on the go using HP ePrint. And enterprise businesses and organizations that support a mobile workforce can benefit from the increased productivity and convenience of simple mobile printing.

Think about how HP ePrint could help your next:
Big meeting
Big meeting If your work demands spending much of your time on the road, you could use HP ePrint to send important documents to print to any of your company’s offices. Simply use your BlackBerry smartphone to send files to a relevant and trusted printer—no matter how far you are from your destination—and you’ll have your prints in time for the big meeting.
Visiting executive
Visiting executive A regional manager or executive visiting your corporate office could take advantage of HP ePrint without having to worry about access or compatibility. Using three clicks on a BlackBerry smartphone, she can quickly identify a printer near her temporary office, select the printer and print the document—all without logging onto a VPN.
Airport dash
Airport dash If you’re like most business travelers, you like to print your boarding pass before arriving at the airport to avoid long waits at kiosks or check-in counters. With HP ePrint, you can use your BlackBerry smartphone to print it from your hotel. Select the e-mail with the PDF of your boarding pass, then send it to a printer at the hotel business center printer.

How to get the HP ePrint application

For HP ePrint Enterprise solution customers, the app is provided when the solution is deployed within your enterprise.

To use HP ePrint locations on the go, download the HP ePrint app (demo app available April 26, 2010). In the demo app, you will see the places you can print to today. As additional locations become available, they will show up automatically in the HP ePrint directory of printers on your BlackBerry smartphone. Please note that each public print location has its own pricing policy. The availability of HP ePrint locations you can print to will also vary geographically.

Alliance between HP and BlackBerry

In 2009, HP and Research In Motion (RIM) announced a strategic alliance to deliver a portfolio of solutions for business mobility on the BlackBerry platform, including HP CloudPrint. The name has since changed to HP ePrint to reflect HP’s ongoing efforts to improve and enable printing for the truly mobile person. The solution is easy to use and improves productivity. When using the HP ePrint Enterprise solution, rest assured that it addresses the security you expect for your business from RIM’s BlackBerry solution and HP.

HP ePrint Enterprise solution requires BlackBerry Enterprise Server deployment, Internet- and e-mail-capable BlackBerry smartphone OS 4.5 with separately purchased wireless Internet service, HP ePrint app and HP ePrint server. Solution works with PCL5/6, PCL3, PCL3GUI printers (HP and non-HP).
