Type with your Voice wins everyone hearts- Samsung Galaxy II NEW AD.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

The latest of these is meant to offer us a glimpse at the voice recognition capabilities of the device. Through them, users won’t need to do the actual texting, but will simply have to speak the text and commands to the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S II will recognize these and will send a text for you fast and simple. Thus, you won’t have to keep an eye on the screen at all times and you’ll also have your hands free.

Of course, the same as the other video ads that Samsung aired in the United States, the new clip is meant to pick on iPhone enthusiasts, who are waiting in line out in the cold to acquire a new handset.

USA: Samsung Galaxy II smartphone tops intention to purchase this holiday.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Intent to purchase smartphones.Oct 1 to Nov 11, 2011.

According to SocialNuggest, this chart below shows the % intent to purchase for Top 10 smartphones in the USA.  Besides Galaxy SII, Samsung also has Epic 4G Touch in that list. Apple has both iPhone 4S and its older iPhone 4 in the list though its older iPhone 3 doesn’t appear in the list despite carriers giving it away for free.

HTC is the only manufacturer with three smartphones in this list while Motorola has two and RIM has only one smartphone in this list.

Since this data is derived from social media analysis done from Oct through November, some of this data may change with new handset introduction or aggressive pricing from mobile operators or manufacturers themselves.

Also it is possible that many users wanting to express their intent to purchase iPhone 4S may have only mentioned iPhone 4 in which case Apple iPhone 4S will lead this intent to purchase chart.

CubeStormer II solves the Rubik's Cube puzzle faster than the human world record. Using a Samsung Galaxy II.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

CubeStormer II solves the Rubik's Cube puzzle faster than the human world record.

This ARM Powered robot was designed, built and programmed by Mike Dobson and David Gilday, creators respectively of CubeStormer http://youtu.be/eaRcWB3jwMo and Android Speedcuber http://youtu.be/ylFb4pqAUd8.

The mechanics are constructed entirely from LEGO, including four MINDSTORMS NXT kits, with the addition of a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone running a custom Android app as the robot's brain. Both the MINDSTORMS NXT kits and the Samsung Galaxy SII use a variety of ARM --based processors.

The app uses the phone's camera to capture images of each face of the Rubik's Cube which it processes to determine the scrambled colours. The solution is found using an advanced two-phase algorithm, originally developed for Speedcuber, enhanced to be multi-threaded to make effective use of the smartphone's dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 1.2GHz processor. The software finds an efficient solution to the puzzle which is optimised specifically for the capabilities of the four-grip mechanism. The app communicates via Bluetooth with software running on the ARM microprocessors in the LEGO NXT Intelligent Bricks which controls the motors driving the robot. During the physical solve, the app uses OpenGL ES on the phone's ARM Mali-400 MP GPU to display a graphical version of the cube being solved in real time.

Human speedcubers' solve times only include the physical manipulation of the cube and don't include some time which is allowed to "inspect" the cube beforehand. Times recorded by CubeStormer II are for the total solve including: image capture, software solution calculation and physical solve.

Want to see it in action?? Check it out at ARM TechCon 2011 in Santa Clara, California Oct 26-27th http://www.armtechcon.com.

Samsung Galaxy S II hits 10 Million in global sales and counting.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

The Samsung Galaxy S II has officially reached 10 million in global sales. Model: GT-I9100, aka the original version of this device, is the one we’re speaking about, the rest that are being released here in the United States aren’t even counted yet!

The Galaxy S II is what Samsung calls its flagship device today, a tiny 8.49 mm (still the thinnest smartphone on earth with a dual-core processor), a ultra bright and sharp Super AMOLED Plus display, and the newest version of Samsung’s operating system user interface, TouchWiz – deliciousness. Of course there’s also the massive following in the hacker and developer community, your possibilities basically endless as far as ROMs and mods go, Samsung Galaxy S II one of the current torches lighting the way for Android for weeks and weeks now.

The 10 million global channel sales has doubled from five million in just eight weeks. Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business President JK Shin notes the following:
“Since its launch in late April 2011, the GALAXY S II has seen continued sales success, demonstrating Samsung’s industry-leading capabilities in – and commitment to – the smartphone market. In just five months the GALAXY S II has seen tremendous growth, reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world, who in selecting the GALAXY S II as their device of choice have driven the device’s strong market position globally.” – Shin

The Galaxy S II is one of a selection of Samsung phones that may be barred from sale in Europe by a temporary injunction granted to Apple: that injunction is scheduled to go into effect October 15. Interestingly, that injunction applies to the devices’ use of Android 2.3, and wouldn’t hold if the phones shifted to Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

T-Mobile with New 42Mbps 4G supported, announces Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Amaze 4G

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

At Mobilize 2011, T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network, Cole Brodman, CMO and EVP at T-Mobile USA, announced the availability of two new premium Android handsets for T-Mobile, the ubiquitous Samsung Galaxy S2, and the HTC Amaze 4G.

As you may have noticed, there are different versions of the Galaxy S2 for almost every carrier; T-Mobile is no different.

T-Mobile’s version has a 4.52″ Super AMOLED screen (largest smartphone screen of T-Mobile’s offerings), and a 1.5 GHz, dual-core processor. T-Mobile is touting Netflix, however,  the Netflix app should be supported now for any Android phone running 2.3.

The HTC Amaze 4G is touted for its great 8MP still camera and HD 1080p video recording. Cole Brodman also talked up the new SmartShot feature that rapidly takes 5 photos in succession then automagically combines the photos so that everyone in the shot looks good, avoiding the problem where one or two people blinked, or weren’t quite smiling when the shot was taken.

Of course both devices will support T-Mobile’s brand of HSPA+. When asked by Om Malik whether T-Mobile would be moving to LTE for 4G, Brodman said that they plan to in the future, but in the near term, for at least the next couple years, T-Mobile will remain on the HSPA+ bandwagon.
