USA: Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+. What are the plans, prices and offers from all major carriers?

Verizon’s plan is to release the Samsung Galaxy S8 under at least two plans. With their 2-year installment plan, a (recent smartphone) trade-in, plus Unlimited Data, users will pay $15 a month for 2 years for a total of $360 USD. Users can do the same thing without the phone trade-in for $30 a month for 2 years for a total of $720.

Verizon also has the Galaxy S8 Plus with the same plan (with trade-in) for $20 a month for a total of $480 USD. Without trade-in, that same deal will be $35 USD a month for 2 years for a total of $840. Verizon will also be selling a VR package which includes the new Gear VR headset (with controller) and a pair of Harmon Kardon headphones and a 256GB micro-SD card for a total of $99 USD.

AT&T’s sale of the Galaxy S8 will include one plan that costs $25 a month for 30 months for a total of $750. The Galaxy S8 will also be available with AT&T’s Frequent Upgrade plan for $31.25 a month for a total of $750. The Galaxy S8 Plus will cost $28.34 a month for 30 months for a total of $850, or $35.42 for 24 months and a total of $850 with the Frequent Upgrade plan.

T-Mobile will be selling the Galaxy S8 for a final retail price of $750. They’re doing so with a $30 down payment and cost $30/month for 24 months on the T-Mobile Equipment Installment Plan. They’ll also be selling the Galaxy S8 Plus for a final retail price of $850 on a plan with $130 down and $30/month for 24 months on a Mobile Equipment Installation Plan.

T-Mobile’s deal is offering the devices on pre-order starting tonight at 9:01 PM Pacific Time online. Pre-orders from T-Mobile will get a free Gear VR with new controller and “Oculus content (a $180 value)”. T-Mobile “@Work” customers will get a DeX adaptor for free at launch when they pre-order.

MetroPCS is also getting in on the action early with a Galaxy S8. They’ll have the Galaxy S8 available for one cost – all up front – for $729 USD. MetroPCS customers will also get the Gear VR with controller for free when pre-ordering the Galaxy S8.

US Cellular will have the Galaxy S8 available for free. Not free without a qualifying trade-in, and this is only for new customers, but free is in there, nonetheless. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be available on US Cellular starting at $40 per line per month for data for four lines, or $60 per month for a single line with Autopay and Paperless billing. Customers purchasing a Galaxy S8 from US Cellular between March 30th and April 20th will get a Gear VR and controller for free.

Pre-orders for most of these carriers – including the ones that have not announced details yet, exactly – are starting tonight.

April 21st is the general consensus for when the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be shipping to carriers and customers.

Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular prices.

March 11 is the date for the availability of the SGS7/SGS7 edge worldwide. The Galaxy S7 will be available in two colors: Black Onyx and Gold Platinum. The larger Galaxy S7 Edge will come in three colors: Black Onyx, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium. (U.S. Cellular is the only carrier that won't carry the Titanium Silver for the S7 Edge.)

If you pre-order either phones, you'll get a free Gear VR virtual reality headset (worth $100) and six pre-installed games ($50 value). Specific game titles will vary by carrier.

The phones will only come in 32GB storage capacities, so if you need more, you're going to have to pick up a microSD card (a 128GB microSD card that you can get here for $35.-

LTE: USA: US Cellular to expand markets in 2014.

U.S. Cellular will be adding more than 1,200 4G LTE cell sites in 2014 and expanding existing 4G LTE service in 13 states. By the end of 2014, more than 93 percent of U.S. Cellular customers will have access to 4G LTE speeds.

This latest U.S. Cellular network expansion adds vast LTE coverage in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and North Carolina and also brings additional 4G LTE service to areas in Iowa, Illinois, Maine, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. Some of the new cities that will receive LTE speeds are Oklahoma City, Emporia, Kan., and areas of Door County, Wis.

The operator has just announced Samsung Galaxy S III presale will start on June 12, but customers will be able to sign up for updates beginning June 5.

U.S. Cellular will offer the Galaxy S III in a 16 GB version in Marble White and Pebble Blue and a 32 GB version in Marble White.

The carrier-bounded Galaxy S III will be shipped with Android 4.0.4 ICS on board and the latest Nature UX user interface, formerly known as TouchWiz.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone will be equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB (32GB) of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card.

The rich feature packed Samsung Galaxy S III will come with lots of new apps and services, including S-Voice, Smart Stay, Samsung Music Hub, S-Beam and AllShare Play.

“We're eager to get this iconic smartphone into the hands of our customers so they can experience the 4G LTE network on a powerful device with lots of new, unique and cool features. Huawei’s efforts to appease security concerns in the US appear to be paying off, with the Wall Street Journal reporting that the Chinese vendor is a finalist for a LTE contract deployment with number six operator US Cellular, and is also in talks with US agencies to build the country’s first nationwide public-safety network.

 A final decision on the US Cellular contract is expected in the next few weeks, with Huawei facing competition for the deal from Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent. Meanwhile, Huawei plans to bid on public-safety network deals in the US and the vendor is already working with the US Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology to test its LTE technology for use in public-safety networks.

Huawei’s US troubles have been well documented. There are domestic concerns around the company’s alleged links to the Chinese military, its attitude to intellectual property rights, claims that it is unfairly supported by the Chinese state, and allegations that it represents a threat to US national security.

 In February Huawei was moved to publish and open letter attempting to address these suspicions.

Certainly, success with either the US Cellular LTE or public-safety deal would be a huge fillip for the vendor, as it has so far only closed smaller deals in North America with Clearwire and Cox Communications.

U.S. Cellular plans to conduct LTE trial in the first quarter of 2010.  Operator is looking ahead for wide-scale deployment of LTE in 2012 reports Fierce Wireless.

At a Media & Telecom Conference in New York City Steven Campbell, U.S. Cellular's executive vice president and CFO, said that the carrier will launch one LTE test market late next year.

U.S. Cellular had revealed earlier in August this year that it was working with multiple vendors on development trials for a 4G LTE network.

Based in Chicago, the carrier is the nation's sixth-largest wireless carrier and serves 6.2 million customers across the country.

Samsung: Galaxy Tab Android tablet heading to U.S. Cellular

Hot News: Samsung announced that its Galaxy Tab, a 7-inch Android 2.2 Froyo tablet, will be available on U.S. Cellular. Samsung did not announce a price or release date for the tablet. The Galaxy Tab offers a 1GHz processor, support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, a 3 megapixel camera, a forward facing camera for video chats, and more.
