Adobe: Releases New Digital School Collection

Adobe Releases New Digital School Collection for K-12 Classrooms and Districts

New Versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere Elements and Adobe Acrobat Enrich 21st Century Teaching and Learning

Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced the new Adobe Digital School Collection for K-12 students and educators, available for the first time for both Windows(R) and Macintosh. The bundle includes the recently announced Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 9 and Adobe Premiere(R) Elements 9 software, as well as Adobe Acrobat(R) X, announced yesterday. Adobe Contribute(R) CS5 and Adobe Soundbooth(R) CS5 software are also included in the collection.

This new cross-platform solution is an affordable multimedia toolkit for teaching and learning virtually any subject. The Adobe Digital School Collection provides students and teachers the ability to create multimedia projects with photos, videos and audio; publish websites, blogs and podcasts; and create ePortfolios -- all 21st century digital literacy skills needed for academic and professional pursuits.
"When teachers incorporate images, sound and video into their lessons, students get more engaged. The Digital School Collection helps them create a project-based learning environment so students can deepen their understanding of the subject matter," said Bob Regan, director of worldwide K-12, Adobe. "Plus, students can create their own multimedia projects and easily encapsulate them in an ePortfolio to showcase their work to prospective colleges or employers."
To help get teachers up and running quickly, Adobe published ready-to-use lesson plans and tutorials. They are available free online athttp://www.adobe.com/education/k12/adsc/ and on the Adobe Education Exchange online community at http://edexchange.adobe.com, along with other resources contributed by educators who use Adobe software in their classrooms.

"The Adobe Digital School Collection is exciting because it gives my students all the tools they need to create meaningful multimedia projects that support the core curriculum," said Sara Martin, technology coordinator and instructor, Hart-Ransom School, Modesto, Calif. "Students in my classes are excited about learning because their projects are authentic and engaging. They also create ePortfolios with Acrobat to showcase their projects over time. This affordable and versatile collection is perfect for today's students."
Pricing and Availability
The Adobe Digital School Collection will be available for Windows and Mac platforms on Dec. 1, 2010, from authorized Adobe education resellers via volume licensing starting at US$149 MSRP.
