I think developers interested into develope a similar app for different mobiles OS should watch this video, where sling media Blake Krikorian who made this app explains some of the first sights of it. He is going to make a Beta Free limited app and a Premium for $99.- probably with the R2 name. On the video he is giving some advice for developers and a invitation to join this developing venture.
Would be nice if you make a similar app for webos, as well.
