Citi bank launches new credit card, which allows consumers to redeem rewards at point-of-purchase.
When you think of a credit card, you don't typically think of innovation. But all of that is about to change as technology meets up with the credit card industry in a never-before-seen makeover that will put a tiny computer into the plastic to provide consumers with greater control, flexibility and options at the register.
Since the 1950's, credit cards have relied on black magnetic-strip technology to store information, but now these thin plastic cards are engineered with the latest technology that enables the information on the strip to change with the press of a button.
As the first issuer to offer these next generation credit cards, Citi's Terry O'Neil, talks about how technology is paving the way for people to manage their money better - for example, now with the simple press of a button on your credit card, you can redeem reward points to purchase anything from a cup of coffee to a television, or how banking on-the-go offers the ultimate convenience as consumers continue to search for the best price and best deals.
He also talks about the latest research that shows consumers want to lead healthy financial lives and what they see as the tools to help them do that.
