Japan: DOCOMO Medias - The Worlds 3G Thinnest and Lightest Smartphone

WorldWideTech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Docomo offers thinnest 3G smartphone
Japanese operator NTT Docomo announced what it described as “the world’s thinnest 3G smartphone,” the NEC Casio-manufactured Medias N-04C. The Android-powered device is 7.7mm thick and supports services including One-Seg digital terrestrial broadcasts. The operator is also to offer the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc smartphone, and LG Electronics’ Optimus Pad tablet device.

The specs of the device have been confirmed, and the MEDIAS N-04C will pack a 4″ LCD touchscreen (854 x 480) with Gorilla Glass (I guess a phone that thin needs some sort of protection), Android 2.2 (with an update coming this summer), a 5.1 megapixel CMOS camera, 1Seg digital TV tuner e-wallet function (NFC), 3G/GSM roaming, a microSDHC card slot, infrared communication and the standard Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi. The MEDIAS is still 7.7mm thick and will weigh only 105g. No word on pricing, but the phone will hit the stores in two colors (black or white) on March 15.
