HTC is showcasing five Android smartphones and its first tablet PC, the Android HTC Flyer, at the 2011 Mobile World Congress (MWC) taking place in Barcelona, Spain, in an attempt to reinforce its global competitiveness, according to the company.
The six models will be launched in the second quarter of 2011, HTC indicated.
HTC Flyer features a 7-inch touch screen, HSPA+ mobile connectivity, new HTC Scribe handwriting and drawing, HTC Watch video streaming service and OnLive gaming service based on cloud computing, the company pointed out.
The five smartphones are the 3.7-inch HTC Desire S with front and rear cameras, 3.2-inch HTC Wildfire S with a 5-megapixel rear camera, 4-inch HTC Incredible S with an 8-megapixel rear camera, and HTC Chacha and HTC Salsa, each featuring a key to directly link to Facebook.
HTC sold 25 million smartphones in 2010, more than double the sales volume in 2009, and the awareness of the HTC brand has hiked from 13% to 50% in 18 months, according to company CEO Peter Chou.
