Several computer manufacturers are delivering their Windows 8 machines with a preinstalled copy of the Kindle app.
Samsung, Dell, HP, Asus, Acer and Lenovo are all offering the Kindle app on all Windows 8 computers
The application is also available via the Windows Store for free for all users who didn’t get it with their new Windows 8 machine.
“The Kindle ecosystem offers customers massive selection and the lowest
prices, along with hundreds of thousands of books that are only
available in the Kindle Store. We’re excited to make the best content
selection, along with all of the benefits of the Kindle ecosystem,
available on Windows 8,” said Dorothy Nicholls, vice president, Amazon
Kindle.
“We’re thrilled that leading manufacturers have selected the Kindle ecosystem for pre-load on their new Windows 8 devices.”
The app comes in multiple languages, including English, French, German,
Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, and offers instant access to 1.5
million books. More than 650,000 books can be purchased for around $5
(€3), while 1.2 million titles are sold for $9.99 (€7).
The
Kindle downloadable application is already available on a wide array of
platforms, including iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, PC, Mac, BlackBerry,
Windows Phones and Android. Of course, it’s also included in Amazon’s
very own Kindle e-reader and Kindle Fire.
