MWC 2016: MediaTek and Ericsson complete Wi-Fi calling Interoperability Testing to Expand Device Ecosystem.

Testing ensures seamless Wi-Fi calling interworking between MediaTek based mobile devices and Ericsson Evolved Packet Core and Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem.

MediaTek and Ericsson today announced successful testing to enable Wi-Fi calling across advanced MediaTek powered mobile devices and Ericsson's mobile network. The collaboration will bring the advantages of Wi-Fi calling to a significantly larger base of devices and end-users.

"Our collaboration with Ericsson, a technology leader in mobile networks, assures our broad customer base that MediaTek's Wi-Fi interworking is state-of-the-art," said Jeffrey Ju, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operations Officer at MediaTek. "The comprehensive testing is a validation of our SoC reference base and reinforces our goal to bring the best technology and experiences to users around the world."

The comprehensive suite of testing between a MediaTek based mobile device and the Ericsson Evolved Packet Core and Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) included registration, idle and active call mobility - for example between Wi-Fi and LTE - SMS, voice and video calling and emergency services Wi-Fi calling.

These features, already available on Ericsson's mobile network solution, are now also offered on MediaTek helio X and P series SoC's -- starting from helio P10 -- and on all new 4G LTE smartphone SoC platforms from MediaTek.

China: Huawei launches  the Honor 3C quad-core and the 3X first octa-core smartphone.

The "Huawei Honor 3C 'is a  low-cost smartphone.  While maintaining a low price with a high specification is eye-catching, says Huawei.

This product comes with a 5-inch display (resolution of 720 pixels) 1.3GHz quad-core processor. In addition 8-megapixel rear camera and a  5 megapixel camera is built into the front. 

Android-based operating system to use its own UI, EMUI2.0 dwaeteumyeo, 3G network support. "Huawei Honor 3C 'is equipped with 1GB of RAM (US version) and 2GB of RAM, the two separate models will be released with a price of 798 yuan each (US$131) and 998 yuan (US$164.-)

SONY to unveil the TIANCHI eight cores smartphone in Press Conference Nov 11.

SONY will held a press conference  in Shangai,China , to unveil the code named TIANCHI a eight core smartphone alongside with the SONY Xperia Z1S the mini version of the Z1.

The TIANCHI processor is a MEDIA TEK MTK6592. SONY is lowing smartphones prices for new devices and found in MEDIA TEK  chip manufacturer a great partner.

SONY partenered before with MEDIA TEK  with the MTK6589 chip, and launched the Xperia C S39h as the cheapest quad core smartphone and got good sales.

Unlike existing octa-core solutions in the market, which can only activate half of their CPU cores at once (Figure 1), MediaTek True Octa-Core allows for all eight of its cores to run simultaneously, offering the ultimate combination of performance and power-efficiency.(Figure 2)

Yahoo partners with MediaTek.

Yahoo announced a global partnership with chipmaker MediaTek, intended to help the Internet services giant expand its presence in the mobile market.

Telecompaper said the deal will see Yahoo services pre-integrated with MediaTek powered products, with a focus on products for emerging markets. It is apparently the first time Yahoo has partnered globally with a silicon vendor.
