HP to unveil new product SPROUT Inmmersive Computer 23 and more next week

HP CEO Meg Whitman said the company will explore "new  computing experiences" and for making a start HP will demonstrate a new product called SPROUT at an event in New York in October 29. The product will be offered for businesses an also high end customers (professionals).

What is HP SPROUT Inmersive Computer 23?

SPROUT is a combination of touch enabled desktops PCs with a flat touch work surface and a overhead assembly that combines a projector and a 3D scanner. Something like an "Inmmersive computer"

The overhead device project images downward  onto the work surface which users can manipulate with their hands or wioth a stylus.

They can resizes pictures, move elements around and change colors.

They can also easily add new elements to the images by scanning objects or other images directly on the work surface. This is where the overhead 3D  scanner comes into play.

Adding an image is as easy as placing it on the work surface where it can be scanned and then included in whatever the user is working on.

SPROUT  will run Windows initially. Future versions could work on Google`s Chrome, OS too.

Businesses could use it to show customers different options of product and help make buying decisions. A decorator or home improvement store could use a photo of a room in someone’s home to show how it would look with different paint or wallpaper options. Fashion retailers could show exactly how a customer would look wearing a dress or jewelry. But it will also be marketed to companies for creating better presentations and to teachers, people familiar with HP’s plans say.
The product is also intended to demonstrate HP’s ability to break away from the pack in the personal computing business, where most vendors focus on notebooks, tablets and desktops, which generally compete with other manufacturers on price.
Sprout will be one of several products that HP demonstrates at the event in New York next week.

Palo Alto, Calif., October 6, 2014 – HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced plans to separate into two new publicly traded Fortune 50 companies: one comprising HP’s market-leading enterprise technology infrastructure, software and services businesses, which will do business as Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, and one that will comprise HP’s market-leading personal systems and printing businesses, which will do business as HP Inc. and retain the current logo. Immediately following the transaction, which is expected to be completed by the end of fiscal 2015, HP shareholders will own shares of both Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. The transaction is intended to be tax-free to HP’s shareholders for federal income tax purposes.
Today’s announcement comes as HP approaches the fourth year of its five-year turnaround plan. Over this time, the company has executed successfully against its turnaround objectives, keeping customers and partners at the forefront. HP has reignited its innovation pipeline, strengthened its go-to-market capabilities, rebuilt its balance sheet, and inspired its workforce and management teams. The company is now positioned to accelerate performance, drive sustained growth and demonstrate clear industry leadership in key areas.
“Our work during the past three years has significantly strengthened our core businesses to the point where we can more aggressively go after the opportunities created by a rapidly changing market,” said Meg Whitman, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of HP. “The decision to separate into two market-leading companies underscores our commitment to the turnaround plan. It will provide each new company with the independence, focus, financial resources, and flexibility they need to adapt quickly to market and customer dynamics, while generating long-term value for shareholders. In short, by transitioning now from one HP to two new companies, created out of our successful turnaround efforts, we will be in an even better position to compete in the market, support our customers and partners, and deliver maximum value to our shareholders.”
Both companies will be well capitalized and expect to have investment grade credit ratings and capital structures optimized to reflect their distinct growth opportunities and cash flow profiles. The separation into independent publicly traded companies will provide each company with its own, more focused equity currency, and investors with the opportunity to invest in two companies with compelling and unique financial profiles well suited to their respective businesses.
Management Structure
Meg Whitman, President and Chief Executive Officer of HP, and Cathie Lesjak, Chief Financial Officer of HP, will hold these positions with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. When the separation is complete, Whitman will also serve on the Board of Directors of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, and Pat Russo will move from Lead Independent Director of HP to Chairman of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise.
Dion Weisler, Executive Vice President of HP’s Printing and Personal Systems business, will lead HP Inc. as President and Chief Executive Officer. Whitman will serve as non-executive Chairman of HP Inc.’s Board of Directors.
Hewlett-Packard Enterprise
Hewlett-Packard Enterprise will have a unique portfolio and strong multi-year innovation roadmap across technology infrastructure, software and services to allow customers to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by cloud, big data, security and mobility in the New Style of IT. By leveraging its HP Financial Services capability, the company will be well positioned to create unique technology deployment models for customers and partners based on their specific business needs. Additionally, the company intends for HP Financial Services to continue to provide financing and business model innovation for customers and partners of HP Inc.
Customers will have the same unmatched choice of how to deploy and consume technology, and with a simpler, more nimble partner. The separation will provide additional resources, and a reduction of debt at the operating company level, to support investments across key areas of the portfolio. The separation will also allow for greater flexibility in completing the turnaround of Enterprise Services and strengthening the company’s go-to-market capabilities.
“Over the past three years, we have reignited our innovation engine with breakthrough offerings for the enterprise like Apollo, Gen 9 and Moonshot servers, our 3PAR storage platform, our HP OneView management platform, our HP Helion Cloud and a host of software and services offerings in security, analytics and application transformation,” continued Whitman. “Hewlett-Packard Enterprise will accelerate innovation across key next-generation areas of the portfolio.”
HP Inc.
HP Inc. will be a proven leader in the personal systems and printing markets with exciting new technologies on the horizon. The new company’s strong profitability and free cash flow will enable investments in growth markets such as 3-D printing and new computing experiences. At the same time, HP Inc. will continue to execute against a well-defined and established strategic plan, ensuring continuity for customers and consistent value to shareholders.
“Since assuming responsibility for the Printing and Personal Systems Group, Dion and his leadership team have done an excellent job of building our relationships with customers and channel partners, segmenting the market and driving product innovation,” added Whitman. “The creation of HP Inc. will only accelerate the progress the team has made.”
“This is a defining moment in our industry as customers are looking for innovation to enable workforces that are more mobile, connected and productive while at the same time allowing a seamless experience across work and play,” said Weisler. “As the market leader in printing and personal systems, an independent HP Inc. will be extremely well positioned to deliver that innovation across our traditional markets as well as extend our leadership into new markets like 3-D printing and new computing experiences – inventing technology that empowers people to create, interact and inspire like never before.”

Concept phone.

In September 2012 Meg Whitman HP CEO said to FOX News (video above) that the company have to make an smartphone because in some countries it is their first device and don`t have a tablet or a PC and as a computer company HP will launch an smartphone in the right time.

Now the rumor comes from 9to5Google  about HP was on track to launch a smartphone between 6-7 inches small .

The Galaxy Note 3 that HP’s product is being compared to is 5.5 inches so we’d wager the screen is closer to 6-inches.

9to5Google says, they gotten word from inside HP that the company is set to release an inexpensive Android smartphone aimed at the prepaid and emerging (BRIC) markets.

They are hearing the street price will be around $200 and it will be released in more than one market. The source has pegged the launch at next week but delays can’t be ruled out at this point .

Nokia Meego defector and new HP SVP Mobility  Alberto Torres is said to be heading up the group which has been working on the product for a year and a half.

As we continue to execute our strategy for HP, communications will be an extremely important function and it is critical that we speak with one voice.
I want to thank Marty Homlish, EVP Global Marketing who stepped in and provided leadership during a critical junction. Whitman Expected to Get HP CEO Nod After Markets Close. Not interim.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Multiple sources close to the situation, said that, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman is poised to be named CEO of Hewlett-Packard later today after the markets are closed.

“Meg is not someone who wants to be a steward of a process to find another CEO for HP,” said one source.

“She wants to run the company and be a strong leader for what she considers an important tech powerhouse.”

That makes sense, since at only 55 years old, sources said Whitman is not inclined to want to do a temporary fix-it job on a company as troubled and complex as HP.

Bloomberg: HP CEO candidates:Todd Bradley and David Donatelly. Meg Whitman interim leader.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

“It’s not going to be easy,” said Michael Mullaney, who helps manage $9.5 billion, including Hewlett-Packard shares, at Fiduciary Trust in Boston. “They have to go back and redefine what they want to be as a company, go back to the drawing board.”
Apotheker’s ouster would leave the board looking for a leader who can do a better job helping Hewlett-Packard weather a personal-computer slump while pushing further into the market for products that deliver computing services over the Web. CEO candidates may also include Todd Bradley, who runs Hewlett- Packard’s PC unit, and David Donatelli, head of the business in charge of servers, storage and networking, said Jayson Noland, an analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co. in San Francisco.
Other possible candidates that would make sense include Gary Moore, chief operating officer of Cisco Systems Inc., or Steve Mills, who runs the software unit at International Business Machines Corp., said Shaw Wu, an analyst at Sterne Agee & Leach Inc. in San Francisco.
Hewlett-Packard’s board plans to consider firing Apotheker, two people familiar with the matter said yesterday. It may appoint former EBay Inc. (EBAY) CEO Meg Whitman, a Hewlett-Packard director, to serve as an interim leader, said one of the people.

Board Discussions

Hewlett-Packard directors met yesterday in committees and will gather today as a full board, according to a person close to the situation. Directors are concerned about the stock price and its lack of improvement under Apotheker’s leadership, the person said. Some top Hewlett-Packard executives also opposed the acquisition of Autonomy Corp., a deal pushed by Apotheker, according to the person.
Hewlett-Packard, based in Palo Alto, California, jumped $1.51, or 6.7 percent, to $23.98 yesterday on the New York Stock Exchange after Bloomberg reported the possible management change. The stock is still down 44 percent since Apotheker, 58, became CEO on Nov. 1, compared with the 1.5 percent decline in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.
A new CEO would be Hewlett-Packard’s seventh leader since 1999, when Carly Fiorina took over from Lewis Platt. Fiorina departed in 2005 and was replaced on an interim basis by Robert Wayman, until the company named Mark Hurd to the top job. After Hurd resigned, Cathie Lesjaktook the reins temporarily until Apotheker came aboard.

Whitman is a done deal, Apotheker is out ?

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

According to several sources close to the situation, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman is being considered by Hewlett-Packard directors as a possible candidate for CEO, in a move that would replace its current leader Léo Apotheker.

Wall Street seems to like the Apotheker ouster idea, with HP shares spiking almost eight percent on our news, as well as a simultaneous Bloomberg report. The rise has added almost $3 billion to HP's market valuation.

The appointment of Whitman — who is longtime and experienced Silicon Valley exec, who joined the board of Hewlett-Packard in January — to the top job at HP is by no means a done deal, sources said.

But a significant contingent on the board is keen to remove Apotheker after a what some directors consider is a series of management mishaps.
