Twitter launches video group features and private messages. Videos

Twitter has added two new features to its mobile application: a tool to record, edit and publish videos up to 30 seconds long, and the ability to talk privately with a group of users through direct messages.

"Private conversations on Twitter are mostly excellent public experience of the platform as a  supplement" that give users "more options as to how and who to contact in Twitter," writes Jinen Kamdar, head of product from the blog of the company.

Users can only send group messages to his followers, but need not be followed each other recipients.

As for the camera, Kamdar says "editing experience integrated Twitter lets you capture and share an instant videos up to 30 seconds." The videos are displayed in a preview to be played for them.

iPhone users can also post videos reel camera in your device, while users of the Android version will still have to wait for this function.

Last week, the microblogging service introduced the "while you were" as applied to users who "connect to Twitter occasionally have a quick overview of what you have been missing."

The home timeline is a great place to have conversations but it’s also a place to find great conversation starters.

The group function lets you start conversations with any of your followers and they don’t all need to follow one another in order to chat. You can create a group in just a few taps. Blackberry CEO John Chen may have avoided talking about the iPhone directly during the Passport smartphone’s launch event, but it was pretty obvious what he meant when he encouraged people to try and bend the new square BlackBerry model.

Apple answered:

Apple defended against reports that its largest iPhone bends easily in people's pockets, saying warping is "extremely rare" through normal use. 

Since going on sale Friday, Apple said only nine customers have contacted the company about a bent iPhone 6 Plus—the larger and more expensive of its two new iPhones. Apple said both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus passed a series of tests meant to check the products' strength and durability through everyday use. 

The company said the new iPhones are made from a custom grade of anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength. Apple said the phones also feature stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce high-stress locations. 

Apple is addressing reports that the new iPhone 6 Plus was bending when people sat with the phone in their pockets. Videos of people bending the jumbo-sized iPhone with their hands quickly made the rounds on social media.

Samsung will hold after Wednesday Sept 3rd an UNPACKED UP CLOSE event for a hands-on view of the NEW products.

The products we know until know that Samsung is going to unveil and show in Sept 3rd are the Galaxy Note 4 and the Gear S . What other new products Samsung will unveil alongside the Note 4 and the Gear S?

Our question about these  additional unknown NEW products is because Samsung will hold  after Wednesday Sept 3rd an UNPACKED UP CLOSE event for a hands-on view of the NEW products, right after the press conference.

Google hinted the Android 5.0 in its recent Twitter post while announcing a new Google Now utility and we can notice that the clock was at 5:00 when these screen shots were taken. Wondering how this is linked to the Android update?  Google method while introducing its Android iterations here it is:

Earlier when Android 4.4 (KitKat) was released many screenshots were clocking the time at 4:40 and it was the same in the case of Ice Cream Sandwich. Google has following this trend of changing the time when ever there is a major release in its Android Operating System.

Samsung is teasing on Twitter the Exynos Infinity processor to unveil at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona.

Our speculation, will it be the 64 bits Octacore version for the Galaxy S5 launch in the UNPACKED 5 event to take place Monday Feb 24th in Barcelona ?

Some are speculating that this could be Samsung’s of rumored 64-bit quad-core mobile processor, the very same one that seems to have made an appearance in a Linux kernel patch. Dubbed the “Samsung GH7,” the SoC is reportedly based on ARMv8-A 64-bit architecture. 

However thinking a little deep on the word Infinity, would it means the processor will work beyond our above speculation?

The world's only dedicated Internet of Things network will be deployed nationwide in Spain on Abertis Telecom infrastructures and will thus connect Spain to the SIGFOX global network, already available in France, the Netherlands and Russia.

Eighteen months after launching its network in France, and after expanding the network to the Netherlands and Russia, SIGFOX announces the expansion of the network to Spain. Pope Benedict XVI now has his own personal Twitter account. Despite racking up tens of thousands of followers in only a short time, however, the pontiff has yet to pontificate in 140 characters.

The ranks of Twitter users just got a whole lot holier. Pope Benedict XVI has officially joined the microblogging service under the handle @Pontifex. In fact, he joined it eight times – once each for issuing divine tweets in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Italian, French and Arabic. The Pope has already racked up more than 70,000 followers at the time of this writing – roughly 0.004 percent of the world’s Catholic population. That number will surely jump many time higher in the coming hours and days.

So far, Pope Benedict XVI has issued no tweets himself. That is likely to change soon, however, considering the Pope is an old hat at Twitter. Last year, the pontiff sent out his first-ever tweet from an Apple iPad to commemorate the launch of News.va, the Vatican’s online media hub.

“Dear Friends, I just launched www.news.va. Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI,” reads Pope Benedict XVI’s first tweet.

News.va, as well as the Vatican’s YouTube channel, Facebook page, and Flickr photo feed, are run by the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Social Communication.The Council was established all the way back in 1948 with the declaration that the Church sees “the media as an outcome of the historical scientific process by which humankind ‘advances further and further in the discovery of the resources and values contained in the whole of creation.’”

The adoption of social media by religious leaders is, of course, nothing new. Most notable among them is the Dalai Lama, who has amassed more than 5.6 million followers and tweets about once or twice a week, on average.

In addition to his social media presence, Pope Benedict XVI also became the first pontiff to adopt green car technology with a new Popemobile based on a the all-electric Renault Kangoo Maxi ZE. The gas-free Popemobile will serve as Benedict XVI’s mode of transportation around his summer home in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, which is roughly five square miles in area – a good size for a car that can travel 105 miles on a single charge.

Twitter buys Summify, a social content aggregator.

Summify, a social content aggregator, announced on Thursday that it had been bought over by Twitter, and it will aid the microblogging giant work on helping users "connect and engage with relevant, timely news".

The Canada-based startup announced the deal on its corporate blog on Thursday, although no financial details were disclosed. Summify works by allowing users to aggregate content from their social media accounts into daily summaries sent to subscribers' e-mail or mobile phones.

"Our long-term vision at Summify has always been to connect people with the most relevant news for them, in the most time-efficient manner. As hundreds of millions of people worldwide are signing up and consuming Twitter, we realized it's the best platform to execute our vision at a truly global scale," the company stated.

Twitter spokesperson Carolyn Penner was cited by tech news site Wired on Thursday saying co-founders Cristian Strat and Mircea Pasoi had created a product that "curates the best and most important stories in your Twitter timeline and Facebook newsfeed".

According to a Romanian business news site, Pasoi and Strat are two Romanian "hackers" who were passionate about technology and Internet startups. They both turned down job offers from Google and Facebook earlier in their careers, and had founded balaur.ro, a Romanian job search engine, it stated.

The co-founders, together with three other employees, will be joining Twitter's Growth team in its San Francisco office, Summify said.
