Compal Electronics, optimistic about the potential of Windows 8.

Compal Electronics, optimistic about the potential of Microsoft's upcoming Windows 8 operating system, has reportedly instructed the engineers from its notebook, tablet PC and smartphone businesses to focus mainly on developing Windows 8-based products and expects Windows 8 will significantly boost consumer demand in the second half of 2012, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.

Compal has decided to change its strategy from having its engineers to work on separate projects to all focusing on develop Windows 8-based products, the paper added.
