Google´s Android NDK updates

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Google announced another release of its Native Development Kit for Android, which is now in revision 7.

In a blog post, the company said that it includes “a number of build system improvements and bug fixes.” The headline feature is access to two new APIs: a multimedia API based on Khronos OpenMAX AL 10.1, which is said to offer a direct, efficient path for low-level streaming multimedia, and an API based on Khronos OpenSL ES, which allows apps to decode compressed audio files into PCM format.

The release targets developers writing for Android 4.0 – the latest release of the platform.
