Unconfirmed: HP to sell webOS or keep it?

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

The RUMORS comes from Reuters sources:

Hewlett-Packard Co is evaluating a potential sale of its webOS software platform in a deal that could fetch hundreds of millions of dollars but likely less than the $1.2 billion the company paid for Palm Inc in 2010, said four sources close to the matter.

We know there were a few companies that might had been interested in buying webOS: HTC, Samsung, Sony, who definetely said not in the bid ,Amazon, and  Nikon.

Reuters says, Oracle Corp might be among the likely technology firms interested in the asset.

Several technology companies have expressed an interest in buying the division, which is seen as attractive for its patents.

HP is being advised by Bank of America Merrill Lynch as it weighs whether to sell or keep the webOS unit, the sources said. If this advising process is  true, could take some time, at least a month.

Maybe just 4.25 million webOS usage profiles worldwide until today.
are not profitable  enough for  a big company like HP or anyone.
