Sony on February 7 unveiled Tablet P, a tablet PC featuring dual 5.5-inch touch screens, Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a 300,000-pixel front camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera, and support for Wi-Fi/3G/Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. The device is for sale in the Taiwan market at a retail price of NT$18,800 (US$633), according to Sony Taiwan.
iPad dominated the tablet PC market in 2011. Android devices only accounted for a 30% market share. The situation may get worse for Android when Windows 8 is introduced in 2012.
Sony's tablet PC can download and play PlayStation games, which is likely to attract consumers. However, this may limit sales of Sony's PSP. Sony however, responded that the two products will not interfere with each other.
