Original Post from the Office Blog:

Office for Android phone is here!

Today’s post was written by Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president for the Office Client Applications and Services team.
Today I’m pleased to announce the general availability of the new Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps for Android phone. These join our previously released Office apps for Android tablets to complete the Office experience for the millions of Android users around the world. Download Word, Excel and PowerPoint on your Android phone today to get started.

Five weeks ago, we announced the Office for Android phone preview. We are so grateful to our preview users, and with their help we were able to test the apps on over 1,900 different Android phone models in 83 countries. During the preview, we heard from thousands of these users, and over the last few weeks we were able to incorporate a lot of their feedback into the apps we’re launching today. For example, we made it easier to connect to other popular third-party storage offerings like Google Drive and Box, as well as many usability adjustments to make it easier to navigate commands within the apps.
Here are a few of my favorite aspects of our new Android phone apps:
  • On the go reviews and edits—I often need to squeeze in quick reviews in between appointments during the day. I can review documents in full fidelity, read comments and then easily add my own.
  • Presenting from my phone—I love just bringing my phone to a meeting to present wirelessly.  PowerPoint for Android phone gives me the same transitions, animations and design that I would have from my desktop, and I can even use inking to highlight important points while presenting.
  • Quick access to my documents—I can quickly find the document I was working on in the office from my phone.  It even shows me where I was last working. Additionally, while I am a faithful OneDrive user, I can also access documents stored in Dropbox, Google Drive or Box with our support for third-party cloud storage providers.
  • Easy to get—We’ve partnered with over 30 global, regional and local OEMs such as Samsung, Sony, LG and many more, to pre-load these apps on Android devices. Many of these devices will be landing in retail stores later this year.
You can download the Word for AndroidExcel for Android and PowerPoint for Android appsfrom the Google Play* store beginning today. We hope you enjoy using them as much as we enjoyed making them.
—Kirk Koenigsbauer
*Word, Excel, PowerPoint apps are available in the following app stores in China: Tencent, Baidu, Xiaomi, CMCC, and through the Samsung Galaxy Store worldwide.

USA: To April 2015 Apple tops smartphone market share with 43.1%, Samsung 28.6% and LG 8.4%. Charts.

comScore, Inc. , a global leader in digital media analytics, today released data from comScore MobiLens®  and Mobile Metrix®, reporting key trends in the U.S. smartphone industry for April 2015. Data from this report is based on MobiLens Plus, an enhanced version of the MobiLens product that combines insights on smartphone and tablet ownership and features a variety of new insights on consumer mobile behaviors.

In April 2015, Apple ranked as the top smartphone manufacturer with 43.1 percent OEM market share, while Google Android led as the #1 smartphone platform with 52.2 percent platform market share. Facebook ranked as the top individual smartphone app.
Smartphone OEM Market Share
188.6 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones (76.9 percent mobile market penetration) during the three months ending in April.* Apple ranked as the top OEM with 43.1 percent of U.S. smartphone subscribers (up 1.8 percentage points from January). Samsung ranked second with 28.6 percent market share, followed by LG with 8.4 percent (up 0.4 percentage points), Motorola with 4.9 percent and HTC with 3.7 percent (up 0.1 percentage points).

* Beginning with April 2015 data, MobiLens Plus includes an improved sample weighting methodology that incorporates additional controls for smartphone and tablet populations. This enhancement resulted in a step change increase in the total mobile population but had minimal impact on key market share dynamics. The 3-month average ending April 2015 was calculated by averaging April’s MobiLens Plus numbers with March and February’s numbers from the traditional MobiLens product in order to preserve the 3-month rolling trend in our public monthly reporting.
Smartphone Platform Market Share
Android ranked as the top smartphone platform in April with 52.2 percent market share, followed by Apple with 43.1 percent (up 1.8 percentage points from January), Microsoft with 3 percent, BlackBerry with 1.5 percent and Symbian with 0.1 percent.

Google`s I/O 2015 Agenda. What to expect?

The Google`s I/O 2015 event is about to begin today May 28, 2015 and as before years we are expecting the presentation of what is going to be the next Android OS called M (Marshmallow). Are saying it will be also focused on profesional enterprise besides just for the personal use.

It is expected to announce a new milestone, the Android OS use in more than 1,300 million units

Maybe some novelties about the mobile payment, battery life increased could be announced.

Google wants to conquer the home. It will do so with two tools: a proposal for Android applications for home appliances that connect to each other, which in the industry is called the Internet of Things, and other content as childish.

In hardware are expected a new version of Goolge Glass ,new kind of smartwatches and the benefits of the new version of Android Wear on them and perhaps some  news of the mobiles modular Project Ara that will be announced in Puerto Rico.

Smartwatch married to smartphone or a really stand-alone smartwatch?

(This article is for you and smartwatches manufacturers)

How many smartwatches in the market we have until now? Can you remember the names and models of every manufacturer?

Pebble with 2 classic versions, SONY with 3 versions , SAMSUNG has 5 versions, LG has 4 versions, APPLE has 3 model versions, MOTO 360 just one and so many more and  knock-offs versions that you can find some  on Amazon store.

Only Samsung has made the first Tizen stand-alone smartwatch until now. (but with no video capture feature)Samsung

My point is:  a real SMARTWATCH has to work exactly like an smartphone but on a reduced size screen. It means it has to operate WiFi, take videos, pictures, watch Youtube videos all the possible and most important apps you have on your smartphone, but  by its own. That is what SMARTWATCH means. So why keeping it tied to your smartphone to work, that is a joke and I don`t think in time is a real business.

What , are you afraid to get reduced sales of your smartphones? Well  it could happen. Maybe the real SMARTWATCH deal will substitute some of  those smartphones sales instead.

Maybe you as a manufacturer is the time to make a decision. Keep making REAL STAND-ALONE SMARTWATCHES or  If NOT, just abandon the idea of it and keep making smartphones only.

Don`t waste your time and money. There are so many people out there that will not buy married SMARTWATCHES at all.

Would you?
