Telefónica expands partnership with Samsung to become KNOX Reseller.

Telefónica expands partnership with Samsung to become KNOX Reseller.

- Telefónica will become an authorised reseller of Samsung’s KNOX secure mobile platform to public sector and enterprise customers around the globe.

-Customers can create separate personal and work environments on their devices. Data held in the work environment is encrypted and sits behind password and fingerprint verification.

Telefonica and Samsung Electronics Co  Ltd today announced a partnership agreement to include Samsung KNOX in Telefonica’s portfolio of security services for enterprises. Telefónica will become an authorised reseller of Samsung KNOX licenses to public sector and enterprise customers around the globe.

The agreement will combine the expertise of Telefónica, in communication services and digital services, and Samsung, in cutting edge technology and a secure Android Platform, to provide a comprehensive mobile solution for work and play to organisations and their employees.

The agreement’s announcement follows the launch of KNOX 2.0 at Mobile World Congress in February 2014. The evolution of KNOX will enable employees to easily separate their work and personal lives on their mobile devices, while giving organisations enhanced security at all levels of the Android platform.
Telefónica’s enterprise customers will be able to enjoy the productivity benefits of using a ‘work phone’ wherever they are, without having to carry two separate devices. They will be able to create separate personal and work environments on their devices with encrypted work data protected by password and fingerprint verification.

The enhanced security capabilities of KNOX will be available to Telefonica’s enterprise customers on a wide range of the latest Samsung devices such as Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)

“This agreement reflects Telefónica’s commitment to provide innovative security solutions to its customers. With KNOX, we are now in a position to bring the best mobile security solution for our enterprise, MNC and Public Administration customers who are using Samsung´s devices”, says Oliver Martínez, Director of Security and eHealth services at Telefónica.

Rob Orr, Vice President of Enterprise Sales at Samsung Mobile Europe, said: “We are delighted to be working with Telefonica to offer secure mobile solutions to public sector and enterprise customers around the world. We are seeing a requirement in the market to combat security challenges and look forward to working with Telefonica to respond to the increasing convergence between consumer and enterprise technology.”

Samsung KNOX was introduced in 2013 as an enterprise-ready secure Android platform powering new Samsung Galaxy branded devices in the market. KNOX is designed from the ground up to systematically fortify Android by leveraging the hardware to provide the level of security required by customers. KNOX resolves the two major enterprise mobility concerns for customers–security and manageability – in addition to addressing the ability to seamlessly separate work and play.

MWC 2014: NEC to showcase its portfolio of Networking solutions and world`s first commercially available vEPC and vCPE.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) is showcasing its portfolio of solutions to help telecom carriers increase service agility, improve revenues and affordably meet rising mobile capacity demands at Mobile World Congress 2014.

NEC's portfolio of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solutions will be a key focus of the show, including demonstrations of the world's first commercially available virtualized Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) and virtualized Customer Premises Equipment (vCPE).

EPC is likely to be one of the first network elements that operators virtualize as they roll out LTE services. NEC's vEPC is already being implemented in Myanmar - one of Asia's most promising growth markets - as part of a national project to support LTE and fixed-line telephone services.

NEC's vCPE solution enables IP functions to be shifted from a customer's on-premises equipment to a telecom operator's network. This allows operators to rapidly deploy services, improve network operations and provide new services in a more cost effective manner. Additionally, it increases the capability to remotely fix technical problems, thereby reducing costs, while accelerating the time-to-market.

Furthermore, NEC will highlight its Traffic Management Systems (TMS) and NetCracker's Telecom Operation and Management Systems (TOMS) that provide centralized control over carriers' end-to-end networks and optimize traffic flow. This enables telecom carriers to differentiate themselves on a Quality of Service (QoS) basis, service providers to gain bandwidth assurance, and consumers to benefit from increased security and a more consistent quality.

NEC solutions at Mobile World Congress 2014 include: Carrier Data Center Infrastructure, Virtual Data Center (vDC) Solutions, Enterprise-RAN (E-RAN) Solutions, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Big Data Analysis Solutions and Image Recognition Services.

Mr. Takayuki Morita, executive vice president at NEC, commented, "Mobile World Congress provides an ideal opportunity for NEC to showcase its ability to help telecom operators cost-effectively anticipate and meet the coverage and capacity demands of consumers in a mobile data era. By using our innovative SDN, NFV and related carrier solutions, operators can gain unprecedented control over the scale, scope and speed of their networks."

NEC welcomes visitors at Mobile World Congress at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, February 24-27, 2014 in Hall 3, Stand 3N10.

Ecuador: Telefònica Movistar says: Samsung confirms the imminent arrival of GALAXY S5. UNPACKED event Feb 23.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

Companies look to the fullest and have everything they have prepared for the new year at CES. Yes, the companies involved in the mobile industry details on smartphones and tablets for the Mobile World Congress event this year will take place from 24 to 27 February in Barcelona as always.

Samsung, for example, has just confirmed that the new GALAXY S5 will hit the market between March or April, but has not given many details. In an interview with Bloomberg, Young Hee Lee, executive vice president of Samsung, confirmed the imminent arrival of the new device.

As far as rumored new mobile will have a new design and will have an iris reader, this to counter Apple Touch ID technology, and certainly not to be embroiled in more legal scandals patents.

As for specs quad core processor is not known whether it will be Exynos or Snapdragon, or even both as with the S4 is handled. You may have 4GB of RAM, 16MPX camera and a 4000mAh battery.

One detail that Lee left to know is that the mobile will not be presented during the MWC, but obviously know much more about this smartphone in this event. The official presentation will be made in the event that the typical Samsung prepares each year for the occasion.

However, according to Mobile Review’s Eldar Murtazin we will see Sammy’s new flagship Galaxy S5 handset unveiled at 6pm in Barcelona   at its Samsung Unpacked 2014 event at Mobile World Congress on 23 February. He also claims we can expect the same price as the S4 which was £630 (U$1.035.- off contract) at launch. We doubt the device part is true, although the event time and date sound correct.

The new UI appears to take the best bits from every OS so far to create an at-a-glance feed of everything happening in the user’s world. It seems to do the same as Windows Phone does in using Tiles to offer instant information from different apps. Even a message from a friend is displayed as a full tile with her photo and a snippet of the text.

Real world information is also updated with your team’s result, your flight times, map routes, run times and even spending.

Note: The image corresponds to a concept, but not the actual product.
