UK: Orange confirms Intel-powered San Diego smartphone launch.
Orange will launch its expected San Diego smartphone – powered by a
processor from Intel – early next month, supported by a “multimillion
pound” advertising campaign.
The high-profile introduction is significant for the processor giant,
which has struggled to gain momentum in the mobile phone market, against
competition from companies such as Nvidia, TI and Qualcomm.
The San Diego is the first Intel-powered smartphone to launch in Europe, Orange said.
Last month, Intel and manufacturer Lava International announced a device targeting the Indian market. And earlier this week, Chinese IT giant Lenovo debuted its first Intel-powered device, LePhone K800, for the Chinese market.
The company also has deals in place with Motorola Mobility and ZTE.
The San Diego was first unveiled at the GSMA Mobile World Congress earlier this year, under the codename Orange Santa Clara.
The Android-powered device will retail at £199.99 for prepaid customers
in the UK, and will subsequently be free-of-charge for contract
subscribers. Availability details for other markets were not confirmed.
According to reports from the original unveiling, it is manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Gigabyte.
Sony launched extra durability and water resistant smartphones.
Sony has launched two new smartphones in its Xperia range offering “extra durability and water resistance.”
The Xperia go (pictured) and Xperia acro S both feature
scratch resistant mineral glass displays and meet the “industry standard
International Protection ratings for protection against dust and water
immersion." The former boasts an IP67 rating, which Sony says gives it
the highest level of dust and water resistance in a smartphone, allowing
it to be immersed in water for 30 minutes at a depth of up to one
metre.
According to Sony, a recent study in Japan highlighted water resistance
in the top three most important features for smartphone buyers, while
more than a third of participants in a Sony Facebook poll stated
durability as the most important feature when choosing a smartphone
The Xperia go features a 3.5-inch display, 5MP camera and 1GHz
processor running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The higher-specced (but
less durable) Xperia acro S has a 4.3-inch display, 12MP camera and
1.5GHz dual core processor and runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It
has IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance. Both devices
will launch globally in Q3 this year.
WWDC 2012: Facebook will be integrated within iOS6.
TechCrunch is reporting finally facebook will be integrated within iOS6 (codenamed "Sundance").
“After much speculation, Facebook integration will indeed be baked into the latest version of iOS, we’ve learned.
It’s important to note that Apple being Apple,
something could change in the next week and a half (see again:
Facebook/Ping). But as of now, Facebook is a go in iOS “Sundance”. One
thing still being hammered out according to our sources is exactly how
sharing will work. Sharing is the other big part of the iOS/Twitter
integration, and will be important for iOS/Facebook integration as
well.”
Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference set to
kick off on June 11th is expected to feature a showcase of iOS 6 and
the latest developments in the already-confirmed Mountain Lion, the
ninth release of Apple’s desktop operating system.
HTLM5 is a headache for building complete mobile apps on.
LIVE FROM OPEN MOBILE SUMMIT LONDON 2012: App developer Bottle Rocket Apps feels that HTML5 is “a less than perfect technology” to build complete mobile apps on.
“We have looked very deeply into building app with the underpinnings of
HTML5 but we have found that to be nightmare,” said Calvin Carter,
president of Bottle Rocket Apps, at the Open Mobile Summit in London.
“HTML5 is a wonderful media type as the container and the way content
is delivered – that is a great way to use HTML5. But it should not be
in the presentation layer, the network layer, the purchase layer, the
operating system, the hardware communication – none of that should be
HTML5,” Carter said.
The main problem with HTML5 for Carter is a lack of browser support.
“The best browsers out there support about half of HTML5 commands. So if
you like going through life with one arm tied behind your back, that’s
not how we look at it,” he said.
As Bottle Rocket builds premium-level apps Carter said it uses “the
best tools”, which does not yet include HTML5. “We don’t feel you can
cloak a brand in a less than perfect technology,” he said, adding that
native technology should underpin apps with HTML5 only being used at the
top level.

Japan: NTT DoCoMo unveiled a revolutionary transparent double-sided touchscreen smartphone.
Japanese cellular network company NTT DoCoMo has unveiled an Android smartphone with a revolutionary feature: a transparent, double-sided touchscreen.
The prototype device was unveiled at the 17th edition of Wireless Japan, a Conference and Trade Show dedicated to wireless and mobile technologies in Japan.
The
device was jointly developed by DoCoMo and Fujitsu and features a 2.4”
QVGA (320 x 240) transparent display that is sensitive to touch on both
sides of the screen.
Masashi
Tagaya, an employee at NTT DoCoMo’s R&D Advanced Technology Group,
Communication Device Development, explained to English-language Japanese technology
news site DigInfo TV, “For example, from the front, you can only move
the whole Rubik cube like this, but if you slide your finger across the
front while holding down the back, you can rotate just one face. So this
display makes gripping operations possible"
Ecuador, FTA and International Trade. Solutions and Results.-
The small
Andean countries in population and in developing like Ecuador are not able to sign FTA with any
developed country in the Americas, Europe or another continent.
Farmers and
small producers mainly supply the domestic market more than the outside would be
seriously affected by the high volume of production in countries with greater
population and development than ours. Simply go bankrupt, leaving helpless to millions of Ecuadorians.
SOLUTIONS. –
Ecuador must establish other more practical
solutions for international trade mostly with imbalances between exports and
imports.
With a
comparative table of trade with each of the countries in the world of final
figures of the trade balance and a detailed micro analysis of the products that
are imported, country by country could develop a model project full of benefits
such as tax exemptions by a number of years, and invite friendly countries producers to a domestic
production in Ecuador, assuring us to encourage especially those with strong
export presence in other countries and beyond supplying only the domestic market.
RESULTS: -
.
Equilibrium in the balance of payments.
.
Generation of new jobs.
. Reducing crime.
. Increased
domestic consumption.
. Increased export presence of Ecuador.
. Increased foreign exchange earnings.
. Best technological level in production.
. Training our labor supply, raising its
level.
. Decreased
brain drain in order to reach zero and the return of our overseas
professionals.
Ecuador, TLC y
Comercio Internacional. Soluciones y Resultados.
