China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. will start accepting service contract reservations for Apple Inc.'s iPhone 4 from Friday morning, the company said Thursday, indicating it could soon start offering the newest version of the popular handset.

China Unicom spokesman Wen Baoqiu said the company hasn't set a launch date for the iPhone 4.

The company, which started offering older versions of the iPhone bundled with mobile service contracts late last year, said in August it expects to offer the iPhone 4 this year.
