UK: Windows Phone 7 Coming to 5 UK Carriers

Microsoft today announced that all five major carriers in the UK – Orange, O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Three – will offer phones running Windows Phone 7, Microsoft's latest mobile operating system, when it launches later this year.

"Following our announcement at Mobile World Congress that Orange will be our lead partner, it is wonderful now to have all of the UK's network operators supporting the launch of Windows Phone 7," said Alex Reeve, director of mobile business group for Microsoft UK, in a statement.

While Microsoft hasn't said specifically when the first Windows Phone 7 devices will launch, the company puts initial launches in the November timeframe.

In the United States, AT&T will most likely be getting a Windows Phone 7 device first.  A report filed by PC World back in July cited an AT&T spokeswoman who said that AT&T would be the "premier carrier for Windows Phone 7." Verizon Wireless recently confirmed that it is on schedule for a 2011 Windows Phone 7 launch.
