Synesthesia, according to acomputer's dictionary, is a neurologically-based condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.


That, according to the Apple ad that debuted on primetime TV Friday night, is what the iPad does.
The copy:


"Now, we can watch a newspaper; listen to a magazine; curl up with a movie; and see a phone call.  Now, we can take a classroom anywhere; hold an entire bookstore; and touch the stars. Because now, there's this."
