Lenovo to launch the Idea Tablet A1, 7 inch 8GB for $199,99 in late September 2011.

Lenovo expects to ship 1.5-2 million tablet PCs, consisting of 400,000-500,000 ThinkPad series business-use models and 1-1.5 million IdeaPad K1, A1 and other series consumer models, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

While demand in the US and Europe has been weak due to economic impacts, Lenovo has not held a conservative attitude and instead sees 2011 as a good opportunity for it to hike its global tablet PC market share, the sources said. However, many tablet PC and component makers are conservative about Lenovo's ability to reach its shipment goals, the sources indicated.

Lenovo plans to launch the IdeaPad Tablet A1, a 7-inch Android 2.3 8GB tablet PC with GPS, by the end of September at a retail price of US$199.99, which would make it the cheapest 7-inch tablet PC model available for sale so far.
