Richard Kerris: HP webOS TouchPad apps increasing 10 times in downloads, Pivot is the star..

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Along with everyone on the Developer Relations team, I continue to be amazed by the enthusiasm, support and efforts of the webOS developer community.

It’s an inspiration to all of us as we march forward.

The work of webOS continues and there are lots of amazing things going on, a few of which I’d like to mention.

We just released the September issue of Pivot, highlighting more great webOS apps and the developers behind them, along with thoughtful columns and lifestyle articles.

We’re humbled by the response we’ve been receiving, with tweets referring to Pivot as “genius” and “Pivot has to be the most beautiful application catalog ever!” Pivot is helping customers discover even more great webOS apps and will be showcasing the awesome work of our developers in future issues.

There’s been a tremendous response from customers buying up TouchPads and developers are seeing the results. We’ve seen developers tweet that they’ve seen over 10x increase in downloads, which is incredible.

Existing and new developers continue to submit great apps like Glimpse, Preware Homebrew Documentation and Asphalt 6, taking advantage of the large base of webOS users now in place.

Our team is also taking the webOS story on the road with upcoming webOS CONNECT events in Sydney, Singapore and Hong Kong over the next couple weeks.  We’re looking forward to meeting more developers and having an open conversation about webOS.

Thanks for your continued support – and we’ll see many of you soon.

Richard Kerris
VP of webOS Developer Relations
