Foxconn Electronics is expected to introduce its
entry-level and mid-range smartphones into the Japan market through its
subsidiary Sharp in the first quarter of 2017.
However, it remains unclear as to which brand
Foxconn will use to market the smartphones it produced in-house in the
Japan market, adding that it is highly possible those
smartphones will be sold under the Sharp brand.
Although
Sharp's Aquos family products have a significant presence in the
high-end segment of Japan's smartphone market, the Japanese vendor lacks
entry-level to mid-range models, noting that the
adding of Foxconn's products will enrich Sharp's product portfolios.
