The patent that Samsung Electronics applied for at WIPO on 27 June 2017, first spotted by dutch site, letsgodigital. The patent entitled ‘fisheye lens assembly and electronic device comprising same’ was published on March 29, 2018, and describes the integration of a fisheye lens into a smartphone. The lens consists of multiple lens parts, including an aspherical lens with an angle of view of 150 ° or more.
The patent described 7 parts of the lens, one of them has an optical axis and will counteract chromatic aberration. All of them are made of plastic material. The wide-angle lens is already not equipped with an infrared filter. An infrared filter blocks almost all visible light and makes recordings of pure infrared light, which creates unique images.
Will Samsung come up with this new front camera in the Galaxy Note 9?
