Netflix recommends LG HDR enabled UHD TV models, WebOS 3.5 powered.

LG’S HDR-ENABLED UHD TV MODELS RECOMMENDED BY NETFLIX FOR SUPERIOR VIEWING EXPERIENCE

LG TVs Receive Netflix Recommended TV Designation For Third Year in a Row

For the third consecutive year, the newest TV models from LG Electronics (LG) have been designated Netflix Recommended TVs by the global internet TV company that popularized streaming. The evaluation program recognizes TVs that deliver excellent Netflix performance and superb viewing experience.
LG’s TVs passed a strict evaluation process based on factors that matter most to consumers, such as ease of access and speedy performance, thanks in great part to LG’s acclaimed webOS 3.5 smart TV platform. For the first time, LG’s 2017 UHD models include a dedicated Netflix button on the remote control, enabling users to both turn on the TV and launch Netflix with the press of a single button. LG’s newest TVs feature the latest version of Netflix that allows easy access to the service directly from the home screen.
LG’s 2017 TVs are equipped with 4K HDR technology allowing Netflix’s titles in 4K and HDR to stream superb picture quality with greater definition and more accurate colors with higher range. Titles including the entire Marvel series on Netflix, such as the recently launched Marvel’s Iron Fist and other popular series such as The OA and Chef’s Table, can now be viewed with incredible clarity. LG has ensured that its entire 2017 lineup of premium TVs support the full palette of HDR formats with Active HDR to render brighter scenes and greater shadow details when displaying HDR contents, including Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG.
“It goes without saying that we are incredibly proud that our 2017 TVs are once again being recognized as Netflix Recommended TVs,” said Brian Kwon, president of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Because of such recognition, we will continue to find ways to give smart TV owners faster, easier access to 4K HDR content and a more enjoyable viewing experience from our TVs.”
“LG has been an industry leader in delivering excellent Netflix access and performance on their Smart TVs,” said Scott Mirer, vice president, Device Partner Ecosystem at Netflix. “The Netflix Recommended TVs in LG’s 2017 lineup continue that leadership, and provide our members with an even better Netflix experience.”

Expanded Lineup Of 2016 LG TVs, Led By LG OLED And LG Super UHD, Recommended By Netflix.

LG's 2016 4K TVs featuring webOS 3.0 Boast Superior Internet TV Experience

LG Electronics' expanded line-up of top-tier 2016 4K Ultra HD TVs – including OLED and SUPER UHD TVs – have been selected by Netflix for its Netflix Recommended TV program, marking the second consecutive year that LG TVs have been recommended by the world's leading Internet TV network.

Netflix Recommended TV is an evaluation program recognizing smart TVs that deliver excellent performance for Netflix and a better Internet TV experience overall. In total, LG has 10 series and 25 distinct models that meet the Netflix Recommended TV program's stringent specifications.
LG's new OLED and LED 4K TVs* with webOS 3.0 qualified for the global Netflix Recommended TV designation after undergoing a rigorous, criteria-based smart TV evaluation program. Making the 2016 list are LG SIGNATURE OLED TV (G6), 4K OLED TVs (E6 and C6 series), LG SUPER UHD TVs (UH9500 and UH8500 series) and UHD TVs (UH6550, UH6500, UH6350, UH6300 and UH6100 series) with more models expected to be added as they are evaluated.
The Netflix Recommended TV program is designed to help consumers identify televisions that offer a quicker, easier and up-to-date Netflix experience. LG's webOS 3.0-enabled OLED TVs, SUPER UHD TVs and UHD TVs offer an unbeatable combination of breathtaking picture quality and streamlined, intuitive smart TV features that provide an optimal Internet TV streaming experience.
With an extensive library of award-winning TV shows and movies and over 600 hours of original programming planned for this year, LG TVs offer an amazing 4K viewing and streaming experience for Netflix members across the globe. What's more, select LG webOS 3.0 4K TVs offer best-in-class "Instant On" performance so you can turn on your TV and start watching Netflix faster. Other webOS 3.0 features like "Fast App Switching" mean accessing Netflix and other Internet Services is as easy as changing channels.
On top of flawless 4K content, LG TVs are already prepared to provide optimal HDR picture quality. LG OLED TVs and LG SUPER UHD TVs are the first to deliver a complete HDR experience because they are fully compatible with both the HDR10 and DolbyVision™** HDR formats and are ready to offer viewers optimal picture quality for Netflix original series in HDR, including Season 1 of Marco Polo, available now, with Marvel's Daredevil coming soon.
"Complementing their superior picture quality, LG 4K TVs offer an exceptional smart TV performance, which is especially important for the exploding number of consumers whose viewing habits include streaming content from providers like Netflix," said David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing, LG Electronics USA.
"That's why the Netflix Recommended TV designation is so meaningful. With a simple and fast Smart TV platform and now more 4K and HDR Netflix content available globally, choosing a TV from LG has become the obvious choice," he said.
"LG has continued to lead the way in making streaming services, including Netflix, easier and faster to use" said Scott Mirer, vice president, device partner ecosystem at Netflix. "We are pleased to designate LG's latest 4K UHD TVs with webOS 3.0 as Netflix Recommended TVs, offering a superior experience for Netflix members all over the world."
LG TV users can access Netflix by selecting the Netflix app in LG's webOS smart TV platform. Netflix is also accessible on older TVs through LG's former smart TV platform, Netcast.

CES 2016: LG partners with Dolby, Youtube HDR, Nasa, Amazon and Netflix for advance 4K HDR TV technology and content.

Collaboration with Technology Companies and Content Providers Such as Dolby, Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and NASA.

LG Electronics (LG) today announced key partnerships with premier technology companies and content providers to offer consumers more high-quality 4K HDR (high dynamic range) content. Visitors to LG’s CES booth (#8204 Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) will be able to experience a host of new content and related innovations to see firsthand LG’s HDR technology in action.
LG’s new OLED TVs and Super UHD TVs in 2016 are designed to support the current industry-standard HDR formats such as HDR10 and Dolby Vision™. LG, Dolby and Netflix collaborated to create high-quality 4K Dolby Vision™ HDR footage from Netflix’s highly acclaimed Daredevil series for LG OLED TVs, which visitors to CES will be able to view at the LG booth.
The Dolby Vision™ content takes full advantage of LG’s OLED technology to deliver brighter highlights, deeper darks, enhanced details and colors unmatched by conventional TVs for a superior TV viewing experience.
LG has also teamed up with a number of major global content providers to ensure that the best streaming content is readily available for HDR viewing. Original HDR programs from Amazon including The Man in the High CastleRed OaksTransparent and Mozart in the Jungle will be demonstrated at LG’s booth at CES.
Visitors will also be able to experience YouTube’s HDR content for the first time, demonstrated using Google’s VP9-Profile 2 codec. YouTube will provide HDR playback through their TV app starting later this year.
At CES, LG also will display scenes from 20th Century Fox’s “The Martian” on its HDR-enabled OLED TVs, using the Vidity video player from Western Digital. The popular movie has been HDR-remastered, making the film’s fantastic space scenes look even more spectacular.
To highlight yet another collaboration, the LG booth will feature a dark room designed specifically to display HDR video clips from deep space shot by NASA and produced by Harmonic, the official UHD partner of NASA.
As NASA and Harmonic will show, HDR allows viewers to experience space in a way never seen before. “LG’s OLED TVs, with their ability to deliver deep blacks, showcase the recently announced NASA TV UHD channel in the best possible way, taking consumers much closer to the real experience of being in space,” said Peter Alexander, senior vice president and CMO of Harmonic.
Lastly, LG will also demonstrate an advanced HDR broadcasting technology in cooperation with Las Vegas local broadcaster. Developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee, ATSC 3.0 standard-implemented broadcast draws on HEVC (High Efficiency Video Code), the next generation video compression technology in the United States, and advanced frequency transmission to greatly improve picture quality.

“At LG, we take content just as seriously as TV technology and hardware,” said Brian Kwon, President and CEO at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “Sharing our innovation with industry-leading partners is a critical part of our strategy to bring more benefits to our customers and to quickly expand the availability of great content.”

Your phone or tablet can screen-beam to the LG webOS Smart TV.

Your phone or tablet can screen-beam to the LG webOS Smart TV.

This is first time LG also showed off some clever connectivity with smartphones and tablets.

How can you that?

Similar to Chromecast, WebOS will let users choose a Netflix or YouTube video from their phones or tablets, and then send the video to the television.

LG is also working with other developers on more interesting screen-beaming applications. For instance, fitness company Neura created a big-screen version of its ACTV app, and WebOS users can launch it by pressing a button in ACTV’s smartphone app.

Image sharing site Imgur is also adding a button to its app, letting users browse photos on a smartphone and view them on the television.

Colin Zhao, director of product management at LG’s Silicon Valley Lab said LG is using DIAL–the same prototocol that underpins Chromecast–along with DLNA and other protocols.

LG Ultra HD TVs with webOS Smart TV platform to offer Netflix in Ultra HD 4K

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

New webOS Smart TV Platform Perfect Match for 4K Streaming.

LG Electronics (LG) today announced that its broad new 2014 line of ULTRA HD TVs with LG’s proprietary webOS Smart TV platform will support content streaming in Ultra HD 4K from Netflix, the world’s leading Internet television network. LG’s 2014 4K TV lineup will be introduced for the first time this week at the 2014 International CES®.

“LG and Netflix have had a long-standing history of first-to-market introductions including the first network Blu-ray player to offer Netflix streaming back in 2008, which created the new category of Internet-connected consumer electronics devices,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CTO, LG Electronics. “Netflix 4K content delivered on our amazing Ultra HD screens through our new webOS Smart TV platform will change the way consumers enjoy television.”

Reed Hastings, president and CEO of Netflix, speaking at LG’s CES press conference this morning, said: “As the world’s leading Internet TV network, Netflix will be among the first to deliver Ultra HD to consumers. Streaming will be the primary way consumers receive 4K content and we are excited to be working with LG to make this a reality later this year.”

TVs Ready for the Future
LG’s 2014 ULTRA HD TVs are designed to include the latest standards for connectivity, content protection and program encoding, meaning they equipped to handle 4K streaming*. Key to ensuring this capability is the built-in 4K HEVC 60p decoder. The LG TVs decode broadcast signals in both H.264 and HEVC H.265 formats, in either 30p or 60p.

“Content delivery has been the looming question with Ultra HD TVs ever since LG was the first to market with our 84-inch class TV in 2012,” said Sam Chang, LG Electronics USA senior vice president and head of the LG Silicon Valley Lab. “While our Tru-Ultra HD Engine provides excellent upscaled quality, the overall goal was always native 4K content delivery and Netflix was the perfect partner.”

Each TV also features LG’s new webOS Smart TV platform**, which includes a refreshingly intuitive user experience meant to make Smart TV simple again — a modern TV experience. Users can move back and forth between services in a more intelligent manner enabling smoother, faster transitions between screens. Additionally, the webOS’s Live Menu offers a variety of information, features and content including TV show recommendations, a search bar and previously viewed programs. LG and Netflix will also discuss partnering together to stream Ultra HD 4K content beyond the United States.

Visitors to LG’s CES booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204) from January 7 - 10 can experience webOS on LG’s latest OLED TVs, 4K ULTRA HD TVs and on other models from the company’s new year Home Entertainment lineup.

*4K/UHD content delivery standards still being developed.
**Internet connection and certain subscriptions required and sold separately. Content and services vary by product and are subject to change without notice.
