LG DEVELOPS FULL-SIZE KEYBOARD FOR POCKETS

LG Looks to Increase Share of Growing Mobile Device Accessories Market.

SEOULAug. 27, 2015 — In an effort to capture a larger share of the fast-growing mobile accessories market, LG Electronics (LG) will unveil the industry’s first solid rollable wireless portable keyboard at IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany. Unlike other portable keyboards on the market, LG’s Rolly Keyboard (model KBB-700) folds up along the four rows to create an easy-to-carry “stick” that fits into one’s pocket as easily as any purse or briefcase.
Featuring high-contrast keys and a fold-out mobile device stand, typing on Rolly Keyboard is extremely comfortable because its 17mm key pitch is nearly as generous as the 18mm key pitch found on most desktop keyboards. Made of impact-resistant and durable polycarbonate and ABS plastic, typing on the keyboard offers satisfying tactile feedback not found on flexible silicone keyboards. Two sturdy arms fold out to support smartphones as well as tablets 1 in an upright position. Simply unfolding the Rolly Keyboard enables the auto pairing function to connect easily to two different devices at the same time via Bluetooth 3.0 with the ability to toggle between the two with a simple key press. A single AAA battery powers the keyboard for up to three months of average use.
“LG Rolly Keyboard is just one of the many premium input devices we’ll be unveiling in the coming months as we expand our accessories offerings,” said Seo Young-jae, vice president in charge of Innovative Personal Devices at LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.  “The goal was to create a product that could add more value to LG smartphones and tablets at the same time offering a unique design proposition that hadn’t been explored before.”
The Rolly Keyboard will make its debut in September in the United States, followed by key markets in Europe, Latin America and Asia in the fourth quarter. Prices and details of availability will be announced locally at the time of launch. Visitors to IFA 2015 can see LG Rolly Keyboard up close in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9.

The Gates Notes: Machine turns feces into drinking water.

Technology is not only about phones, smartphones, tablets, gadgets, accessories, drones, flying cars, flying board, stars wars bike , smart tvs, streaming music and games, smartwatches and so many things that we are now used to see everyday and help us to communicate to each other, play music, play games etc.

It is  also to see the ways to help people to take advantage of one problem they have in a city or in a entire country and turn it in an unexpected solution.

The raw material for transforming something that is usually disgusting to the view of anyone could be that great solution.

In this case Dakar, Senegal in Africa is transforming the feces into drinking water, electricity and ash thanks to JOP or Janicki Omni Processor as part of a pilot project that could ultimately save lives and reduce disease in poor countries.

The idea behind every Omni Processor design is to solve poor sanitation by making sanitation affordable for the poor. Watch the video to see in someway how this project works thanks to the Bill Gates Foundation:

Sanitizing in Senegal
By Bill Gates
August 11, 2015
The next time you flush a toilet, consider this: 1 billion people defecate in the open. Another 4 billion use rudimentary toilets and their waste is never treated.

I have visited communities where this is a sobering fact of life. The smell can be overwhelming, but even worse, the sewage seeps into the water supply, spreading disease. Poor sanitation is linked to the deaths of some 700,000 children every year.

Our foundation is funding the Omni Processor, a machine that we hope will make sanitation affordable. In this slideshow you can read more about the OP and see what a difference breakthrough sanitation ideas can make.

LG Electronics 55EC9300 55-Inch 1080p 3D Curved OLED TV (2015 Model) WebOS 2.0

LG Electronics Expands OLED TV Category in U.S. With New Flat OLED 4K WebOS 2.0 TVs

EF9500

Company Triples OLED TV Line-up in 2015, Bringing Consumers More Options at More Competitive Prices.

LG Electronics USA today announced pricing and availability for the latest addition to its OLED family of televisions – the EF9500 flat OLED 4K TV series – scheduled to begin arriving at retailers nationwide in September. The EF9500 series represents the world's first flat 4K Ultra HD resolution OLED TV displays.
The introduction of the EF9500 OLED 4K TV series marks a significant milestone in the expansion of the LG OLED TV portfolio, tripling the number of models in less than a year. The new series introduces flat-screen models to LG's OLED line up, which also includes the EG9600 and EG9700 series of Curved OLED 4K TVs and its EC9300 Full HD Curved OLED TV model. LG now offers OLED TVs in 55-, 65-, and 77-inch class sizes, both curved and flat configurations, and 1080p and 4K resolutions.
"OLED TV is not just a new TV – it's an entirely new category of television that delivers what experts and consumers alike are hailing as the best picture ever," said William Cho, President and CEO, LG Electronics USA. "The introduction of LG's new flat OLED 4K TVs offers consumers more choices of OLED TVs at more competitive pricing and makes the definitive statement that OLED is here to stay."
With OLED's revolutionary technology, consumers can enjoy awe-inspiring picture with perfect blacks and incredible color, even from wide viewing angles unlike any LCD/LED TV can deliver. Blacks rendered by LG's OLED TV are up to 200 times deeper than those of an LCD panel, creating an infinite contrast ratio and bringing colors to life like never before possible.
Advanced Content Delivery – Including High Dynamic Range (HDR)

In addition to its flat configuration, another notable distinction of the EF9500 series is that it is the world's first HDR-capable OLED TV, allowing consumers to display HDR content from both streaming content partners and external source devices. LG's EG9600 Curved OLED 4K TV series soon will receive a firmware update that enables consumers to stream HDR content from current and future streaming content providers.
LG OLED technology is perfectly suited for HDR content because it delivers the perfect black that only OLED TVs can achieve. By starting from perfect black, OLED is able to produce the required light ranges at lower peak brightness, resulting in an exceptional – and more comfortable – HDR viewing experience.

LG's OLED TV lineup features its webOS Smart TV platform designed to make finding and switching between content options – including broadcast TV, streaming services and external devices – simple and fast.
LG's updated webOS 2.0 platform for 2015 models features an enhanced user interface, reduces boot time and allows users to personalize Launch Bar menus to make it easier than ever for users to access their favorite content.
LG's webOS Smart TV platform launches apps quickly and seamlessly so users can view their desired content faster. It features simple switching to let users quickly shift to any content they'd like, as well as simple discovery to help find new sources of entertainment from 4K partners* such as Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and YouTube, and many more Full HD options.**
More Mainstream Price Points

LG is making OLED TV accessible to more consumers than ever before, offering models at prices comparable to many of today's premium LCD/LED TVs. Even with new features and design enhancements, the 55EC9300 Full HD Curved OLED TV is now priced at $2,499 – more than 75 percent lower than the price of LG's first-generation 55-inch class model, which first sold for $14,999 two years ago. Since then, LG's OLED TV lineup has evolved into a new category of television to include multiple variations at lower price points available nationwide through big-box retailers, regional dealers and specialty and custom-installation retailers.
Furthermore, the new flat EF9500 series and the curved EG9600 series will be available at the same price – $6,999 for the 65-inch model and$5,499 for the 55-inch model – freeing consumers to enjoy OLED in either configuration, flat or curved, regardless of price.

"There are so many great options available already – flat or curved, full HD or Ultra HD – and we're excited to see customers experience these new OLED TVs," said Luke Motschenbacher, Best Buy's Director of TVs.
LG's 2015 OLED 4K TVs combine the intense detail of 4K Ultra HD and the superior contrast and rich, accurate color that OLED provides, displaying the ultimate in picture quality. For impressive sound, LG's 2015 OLED 4K TVs feature premium built-in speaker systems designed by harman/kardon® to deliver a completely captivating audio and video experience.
LG has also taken its state-of the art screen technology and transformed it into a work of art with its Art Slim design philosophy, making OLED a complement to any interior décor as the TVs boast an amazingly slim depth at only a few millimeters and a stylish, frameless design.
Series, models and suggested pricing for LG's full line up of OLED TVs include:

2015 WorldWide Smartphone Forecast by Market Share,OS, Shipments and Growth to 2019.

According to a new mobile phone forecast from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, smartphone shipments are expected to grow 10.4% in 2015 to 1.44 billion units.

This is lower than IDC's previous smartphone forecast of 11.3% year-over-year growth in 2015. IDC expects to see a noticeable slowdown in smartphone shipments in 2015 as China joins North America and Western Europe in a more mature growth pattern.

However, steadily falling average selling prices (ASPs) will fuel steady growth through the end of the forecast period, with global shipments reaching 1.9 billion units in 2019.

China remains the focal point of the global smartphone market in 2015, although the results haven't been as positive as in previous years. As the largest market for smartphones – China consumed 32.3% of all new smartphone shipments in 2014 – its importance remains great even if its growth has begun to slow.

Shipments are forecast to grow just 1.2% year over year in 2015, which is down from 19.7% in 2014. China will remain the largest market for smartphone volumes throughout the forecast period. However, its share of the overall market is expected to drop to 23.1% in 2019 as high-growth markets like India continue to expand.

"China clearly remains a very important market. However, the focus will be more on exports than consumption as domestic growth slows significantly," said Ryan Reith, Program Director with IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. "India has captured a lot of the attention that China previously received and it's now the market with the most potential upside.

The interesting thing to watch will be the possibility of manufacturing moving from China and Vietnam over to India. We've begun to see this move as a means to cut costs and capitalize on financial benefits associated with localized India manufacturing. It is the local vendors like Micromax, Lava, and Intex that will feel the most pressure from international competition within its market."

Despite Apple's continued success with its variants of the iPhone, the story among operating systems is not expected to change throughout the forecast, with Android's 81% share in 2015 carrying forward until 2019. Markets with the biggest growth opportunity are extremely price sensitive, which IDC believes will not change, and this is the main reason Apple will be challenged to take Android share throughout the forecast.

Even if Apple were to introduce another low-cost iPhone (e.g., ‘C’ version), IDC believes the price will struggle to compete with Android OEMs that are focused on portfolios aimed at price points of $200 and less. This isn't to suggest that Apple's success with the iPhone won't continue, and IDC believes its efforts to maintain significantly higher margins compared to its competitors are much more valuable than chasing share.

Android shipments globally are expected to grow from 1.06 billion in 2014 to 1.54 billion in 2019, while iOS shipments will grow from 192.7 million in 2014 to 269.6 million in 2019. IDC's view that Microsoft/Windows Phone will remain a marginal challenger at best has not changed.

On the device front, phablets (smartphones with 5.5"-7" screens) will continue to drive shipment volumes in both emerging and developed markets. "Since Apple finally delivered a larger screen smartphone with the iPhone 6+, the demand for large screened devices among consumers has been at a record high," said Anthony Scarsella, Research Manager with IDC’s Mobile Phones team.

"Smartphones featuring display sizes from 5.5 inches to 6 inches are forecast to grow 84% in 2015 compared to last year, while  phablets overall will make up over 71% of shipments by 2019." It is also worth noting that this screen size (5.5"-6") also plays the role of having the highest average selling prices for devices throughout the forecast.

IDC expects this screen size band to be the placeholder for a majority of vendors' flagship device launches throughout the forecast period.
