Apple adjusted 1Q2011 iPhone CDMA shipment forecast to 7Million.Targets US, China,Japan and SK markets.

WorldWideTech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

The sources pointed out that Apple has been adjusting its shipment forecast for the CDMA iPhone and has currently set volumes at about seven million units for the first quarter of 2011.

Also Apple's CDMA iPhone orders could contribute about NT$1.9-2.1 billion (US$65.39-72.28 million) to each of its assembly partners, Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Pegatron Technology, while Apple's adoption of new technologies as well as materials for iPhone is also expected to benefit its related supply chain partners in Taiwan, according to sources from upstream component makers.

The sources also noted that since the CDMA baseband module is more expensive, the model's overall bill of materials (BOM) is estimated at around US$190-200, lower than iSuppli's estimated BOM for the first-generation iPhone of US$217.73, but higher than the research firm's figures for iPhone 3G/3GS of US$166-170.8 and iPhone 4G at US$188.

Pegatron started shipping its CDMA iPhone 4 in January 2011 and Foxconn started in December 2010.

Foxconn's model will be solely supplied to the US, while Pegatron's model will be supplied to China and other countries. Since US-based telecom carrier Verizon currently has over 93 million users in the US, the launch of CDMA iPhone is expected to double the number of the current iPhone users in the market.

Since Apple is also set to start supplying its CDMA iPhone to Japan and South Korea, the company's iPhone shipments in 2011 are expected to reach a new record.

Since Apple is starting to adopt new technologies and materials such as halogen-free connectors, carbon fiber internals, solar glass charger plates and double-webcams, which it will gradually adopt into all its product lines, related component suppliers are all expected to profit in 2011.
