Mosaid Technologies files Wi-Fi patent suit against 17 companies from US, Canada, Japan, and China

WorldWideTech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Licensing group Mosaid Technologies announced that it has initiated wireless patent infringement litigation against a number of major players in the industry.

Named in the suit are AsusTek Computer, Atheros Communications, Canon, CSR, Dell, Digi International, Huawei Technologies, Intel, Lexmark, Marvell Semiconductor, Murata Manufacturing, Ralink Technology, Realtek Semiconductor, Research In Motion, Wasp Barcode Technologies, Wistron, and Venture Research.

The suit was filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Mosaid believes that the companies are infringing its patents by making and selling products that comply with or implement the IEEE 802.11 family of communications standards, known as Wi-Fi.

The company said it believes that all companies offering products that implement the Wi-Fi standard require a licence to its wireless patents.
