China Unicom and Telefónica signed M2M deal.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Telefonica’s new London-based unit Telefonica Digital has inked a deal with China Unicom to “promote the development of M2M and the Internet of Things in a global scope.”

The alliance forms part of an existing relationship between the two operators. The firms say they will “cooperate in constructing, maintaining and operating M2M platforms and developing the corresponding technical specifications.” One area of focus will be roaming where the partners say they will promote “standards for international M2M communications.” They note that the alliance could be opened up for other operators to join.
