Through a recent press release, HP announced that Marriott selected HP Networking high-performance infrastructure to deliver advanced in-room technology services to hotel guests.

Marriott International is committed to its philosophy of “Spirit to Serve.” The world famous hotel chain recognizes the demands of today’s tech-savvy guests, who want much more than fine décor from where they are staying during the business meets or vacations.

Among other, guests want high-speed wireless internet access and IPTV (news alert)  in their guest rooms.

To meet with the guests’ demands for these services Marriott decided to go for a significant upgrade of its networking infrastructure. In addition, the hotel chain said that it wanted to stay prepare for future services not yet imagined.

HP announced that Marriott selected the HP E Series suite of routers, switches and controllers for this task, based on their high-speed architecture and scalable system design. With remote intelligent management and a lifetime warranty, the HP E Series offers the ideal solution for a distributed network that can cope with large demand peaks during events and holiday seasons.

In addition, Marriott will be using HP E Series wireless multiservice controllers, access points and devices to provide wireless access for its guests. Access devices, which integrate both wired and wireless connectivity ports in hotel rooms, significantly reduce cabling costs, switch ports and power sourcing equipment.

In a statement, one of the directors at Marriott Andre Baljeu noted that the revamped network infrastructure can play an important part in their guests' overall experience and, as such, the hotel needed reliable, high-performance network to ensure a smooth running, continuous service. Baljeu said that all these were provided by HP.

HP is partnering with leading hotel technology service provider DOCOMO InterTouch to deploy the HP E Series suite of routers and switch products in Marriott hotels in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. The first hotel installation was completed this month. The full deployment is expected to complete in August 2011.
