HP Signs Services Agreement with Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group
Mix of dedicated and leveraged applications and infrastructure services to support operational growth
PALO ALTO, Calif., May 3, 2011

HP Enterprise Services today announced Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group (DTG) has signed a three-and-a-half year, $72 million technology outsourcing services agreement to continue supporting DTG’s applications portfolio and managing its technology infrastructure as a foundation for the company’s future growth.

With this agreement, DTG will move to a hybrid delivery model using a combination of dedicated HP onsite support and leveraged services. This delivery model allows DTG to build, manage and consume technology services that will optimize planning, deployment and management.

“In today’s competitive market, our technology needs to evolve in a way that increases its flexibility to grow with us while continuing the reliability with which we are accustomed,” said Rick Morris, executive vice president and chief information officer, Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. “Together with HP, we will continue creating innovative solutions to help us deliver outstanding results to our shareholders and customers.”

HP will continue providing strategic Data Center Services from its next-generation client data centers, including Network Management Services to manage the company’s LAN/WAN environment and Security Services to protect the network from viruses and malware. The agreement also includes management of 200 midrange servers with an additional 200 virtual images. Additionally, Storage and Backup and Restore Services will ensure a high availability of IT services and continuous reliable operations.

Using products from its software suite, HP will synchronize DTG’s technology infrastructure with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Version 3 service management framework. This will help DTG improve information management by aligning information technology with business objectives and establishing a culture of technology innovation with continual service improvement.

In addition, HP will continue to deliver Workplace Services, expanding support to DTG’s 259 field locations for 2,600 desktop and notebook PCs and peripherals. DTG will use HP Service Desk Services for employees using these devices.

HP also will continue providing Applications Management Services to support DTG’s portfolio of applications, including its car rental and back office operations software. HP’s applications management model allows tiered service levels based on the criticality of each application and adjustable spending as the portfolio changes. With this flexibility, DTG can rebalance technology investments as the business requires and drive new growth initiatives while reducing costs.

DTG will use HP Best Shore locations for service desk and applications support. Best Shore combines HP’s technology portfolio with global delivery expertise to give clients greater flexibility and cost efficiencies while minimizing risk.

For the past 14 years, HP has provided DTG with strategic data center operations and has since added applications support services.

“By drawing on HP’s extensive applications and infrastructure management experience, DTG can more easily capitalize on growth opportunities while reaping the cost benefits of leveraged technology services with dedicated support,” said Mike Klaus, vice president and general manager, Consumer and Transportation Industries, HP. “The HP team will continue delivering high-quality services to help DTG balance its long- and short-term objectives by managing costs and improving operational stability.”

HP will help DTG on its Instant-On Enterprise journey to improve business performance and drive growth. Additional information about how organizations can get started on an Instant-On Enterprise journey will be available at HP’s premier client event, HP DISCOVER, June 6 - 10 in Las Vegas and Nov. 29 – Dec. 1 in Vienna, Austria.
