China TouchPad trademark fight: Hanvon licensed to use TouchPad trademark for 10 years in China. HP to launch webOS TouchPad later 2011.

According to Digitimes: The Trademark Office under China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce has approved the application by Hanvon Technology, the largest e-book reader vendor in China, for using the trademark TouchPad for 10 years from April 28, 2011 to April 27, 2021, China-basedtech.sina.com cited China Trademark Website as indicating.


However, a certain company raised objection twice on March 31 and May 3, 2011, with local analysts saying it was probably Hewlett-Packard -(HP), the report said.
HP unveiled HP TouchPad, its WebOS tablet PC, in San Francisco in February 2011 and plans to launch the model in China market later this year, the source indicated. HP has applied for using the trademarks HP TouchPad and TouchPad HP in China, with the application being screened.
