Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro.
Sony Ericsson unveiled new smartphones in its top-end Xperia range, the Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro .
Both 3-inch touchscreens are powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) .
The vendor claims that the Xperia mini is the “world’s smallest Android smartphone with HD video recording.”
Meanwhile, the pro version adds a slide-out keyboard and comes pre-loaded with Office Suite. Both devices offer access to more than 150,000 apps via the Android Market store and include an improved user interface that allows up to 16 apps to be displayed on the home screen.
A new Facebook app known as 'Facebook inside Xperia,' claims to integrate social connections throughout the phone, by making “Facebook immediately accessible from the most used areas of the phone such as the picture gallery, music player, phonebook and calendar.” Both devices will be available in select markets beginning in the third quarter.
“We wanted to provide consumers even greater choice across the Xperia range, while building on the success of the original mini series,” said Steve Walker, Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson.
The vendor also unveiled another similar device targeted specifically at the Japanese market called the Xperia acro, which features an 8.1-megapixel camera. This smartphone will be available this summer. Last month the vendor reported lukewarn first quarter results, and now claims a market share of around 5 percent.
