The Ecovac Winbot is Polishing up at CES 2012
ECOVAC WINBOT
Stop wasting time cleaning windows with cloths and Windex and try the Ecovac Winbot. This Roomba-looking robot will clean your windows while you sit back and relax.
The Ecovac Winbot works using magnets. There are actually two parts to the robot, one that goes on the outside and one that goes on the inside. Their magnets cling together as they dance across the window until its sparkling.
Two people are required to place the robots on either side of the window, so while this handy device may be useful for household windows, it may not be ideal for windows on the 80th floor of an office building.
Nonetheless this square robot can be yours for only $399. If you can’t afford that go buy some Windex.

First there was a Vacuum Window Cleaner, now a Robot that cleans windows? Technology is definitely getting more dynamic. I think this is intended to clean the outer part of windows of tall buildings which are impossible to reach.
ReplyDeleteI saw this one on Yahoo news before. I didn't see it moving from one window to another, though. For this reason, I think you'll need one robot for each window. This robot that cleans windows is held up by magnets on both sides of the window, if I'm not mistaken. It also needs to be refilled whenever it runs out of fluid which could be costly, but less time consuming. I think it is a neat idea with some promise, but I'm not sure if everyone could afford this.
DeleteThis is definitely a huge step for window cleaning. Personally, technological innovations like this robot won't make people lazy if they enable them to multitask, like cleaning carpets while the robot is cleaning at the same time, for example. To me, that's not lazy -- just efficient. :)
ReplyDeleteThis robot window cleaner is advisable for homeowners who have many windows in their houses to use. You don't need to hire window washers if you had this robot, you know. All you need to do is turn them on and let them do their thing.
