LTE: Lithuania: Omnitel TeliaSonera´s expands coverage.

Omnitel, TeliaSonera's subsidiary in Lithuania, has expanded its LTE network coverage to most of the territory of Kaunas and the capital of the northern and western districts. Operator's LTE service is now available to about 40 percent of Kaunas population and to about a quarter of Vilnius.

In 2011, Omnitel installed 68 4G LTE base stations and continues development of 4G in Vilnius in 2012. Also this year, it plans to install new LTE base stations in Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys.

Omnitel is currently using 1800 MHz frequency band for this LTE network and plans to participate in the competition to provide LTE services in the 2.6 GHz band as well.
