MWC 2016: Ecuador Operator CNT Selects MCO and Aptilo for Nationwide Carrier Wi-Fi.

Ecuadorian operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) has selected systems integrator MCO Global and Aptilo Networks, the leading provider of carrier-class Wi-Fi service management and offloading solutions, to enable Wi-Fi services across the country.

“This nationwide deployment brings carrier Wi-Fi services to the Ecuador population and will be the first of its kind,” said Cesar Regalado, CEO, CNT.

With Aptilo operators can develop multiple strategies to market their Wi-Fi services to their audiences, selling attractive B2B and B2B2C services to hotels, stadiums, government agencies and private companies as well as offering Wi-Fi services directly to subscribers. Contract follows successful trial by Alcatel-Lucent and CNT demonstrating benefits of increased capacity and download speeds of up to 100 Mbps perfect for today’s advanced, bandwidth-hungry applications.

Alcatel-Lucent, and Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) deploy the first 4G LTE high-speed mobile broadband network in Ecuador Covering the cities of Guayaquil, Cuenca, Machala and Loja, as well as most of the major cities in Ecuador´s Pacific Coast and Southern area.

The new network will provide the increased capacity of high-speed mobile broadband to enable a range of services and application over mobile devices at download speeds of up to 100 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 40 Mbps. These speeds will enable CNT to offer enhanced fixed, mobile and convergent services, such as high definition video streaming to a wide range of customers in Ecuador.

CNT is deploying Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE solution to provide ultra-bandwidth connectivity to cities of Guayaquil, Cuenca, Machala and Loja, as well as most of the major cities in Ecuador´s Pacific Coast and Southern area without any disruption to the existing 2G and 3G services.

First 4G LTE network in Ecuador, will deliver speeds of up to 100 Mbps to enable advanced services and applications in financial, industrial and residential areas with high concentration of users, and to provide public access for academic and recreational centers. 

CNT deploys Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE base stations and the 5620 Service Aware Manager (5620 SAM).

Agreement follows successful trial in Amazonas and Estadio areas of Quito conducted earlier this year by Alcatel-Lucent and CNT.

4G LTE coverage to be extended into rural areas of Ecuador previously unserved or underserved with high-speed broadband.

CNT uses Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE solution to develop plans that will improve network data capacity services and to expand national coverage, including bringing new service, such a HD video, advanced online games, telepresence, e-learning, and public safety.

Alcatel-Lucent has established a strong global leadership position in 4G LTE with more than 40 contracts for commercial deployments, including two of the largest 4G LTE network roll-outs to date, with two more in process and more than 40 trials worldwide.

Apple officially arrival of the  iPhone 5  in Ecuador is  Dec. 14.

Movistar will present it  tomorrow in Quito, at the agency located at Avenida America and United Nations. 

CNT still can not pinpoint the date that the new Apple phone is in stock in their retail outlets.

Claro expects next week to formalize the date of submission. 

The iPhone 5 has a thickness of 7.6 mm, 18% thinner than its predecessor. It weighs 112 grams and has a screen 44% saturation, 4 inches and resolution of 1136 × 640.

The novelty of the phone is that it supports 4G LTE connectivity, with which one could sail 10 times faster than now. However, in yet Ecuador frequency formalizes this technology. For now, this feature can not be exploited in the phone. People who buy the new iphone 5 will use third-generation connectivity, yet.

The difference of the new phone and its predecessor is the Apple A6 processor, twice as fast and twice better graphics than the iPhone 4S. It also has new front camera with ability to take panoramic photos and videos of 1080, which allows better stabilization, image detection. This feature was used by Instagram, an application version 3.2 optimizes the camera for iPhone 5 screen and brings a new black and white filter called Willow.

The iPhone 5 is available in 47 countries around the world, in Latin America, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Panama, Paraguay and Venezuela.
