The Samsung Foldable Galaxy smartphone is coming in September?

Speculations are now coming since rumors are saying the Galaxy S9/S9+ sales are not going as expected and therefore Samsung may launch the Galaxy Note 9 in July.

However Samsung has been granted with a patent for a folding out smartphone to tablet recently according to the investor from Korea , another similar before that one here .Both matches the model concept Samsung showed at CES 2013.

So I was wondering are Galaxy S9/S9+ sales really not as expected or is Samsung just making room to announce  the foldable smartphone for September.?

Remember Apple is coming with 3 new iPhones for September, one with LCD display and two with OLED displays and bigger sizes than today model iPhone X. Then Samsung has to come with something greater than Apple for that time.

Samsung has to amaze the world with a new smartphone form factor soon and if the company wants to keep the market lead.

Korean mobile carrier KT to commercialize 5G network services in March 2019. Samsung and Intel parts suppliers.

The 5G platform will be based on end-to-end (E2E) Orchestrator, a network virtualization control system, which will manage KT’s 5G network from core equipment to base stations to devices in real time.

The platform will be essential to providing 5G-based autonomous driving, immersive media and internet of things services, the company said.

“E2E Orchestrator can be flexibly converted for different uses according to changing demand for services, which boasts high efficiency and provides a great variety of 5G services for consumers,” the company said.

KT is planning to implement connected car, smart factory and drone services by using the platform.

At a press conference in Gwanghwamun, central Seoul, on Thursday, KT demonstrated a multi-play virtual reality game based on the 5G network, dubbed “Special Force VR,” co-developed by game firm Dragonfly.

Players in Gwanghwamun were connected with other players in Sinchon, northwestern Seoul, via KT’s 5G network to play the game in real time.

“KT will perfectly deliver the promise made to the world at the PyeongChang Olympics,” said KT’s network business head Oh Seong-mok. “KT will start providing perfect 5G services in March 2019 based on our technologies and know-how that have been built up.”

For the past three years, KT applied for more than 100 patents for preparations of pilot 5G services for the Olympics. And it has secured core technologies for the 5G network, it said.

Major parts of the KT-led PyeongChang 5G specifications in cooperation with Samsung Electronics, Intel and other global equipment vendors were adopted by 3GPPas non-standalone standards in December.

Samsung files a patent for a both sides expandable display smartphone.

Samsung presented a patent application for a both sides expandable display smartphone.

This Samsung's latest patent centers on a traditional smartphone body that could greatly expand its display to watch wide screen content by simply pulling out both the right and left retractable sides as noted below in Patent figure 2.

As you're able to see in Samsung's patent FIG. 2 above, there's a fixed display in the center of the smartphone noted as D1 that's present in FIG. 1 as well. Once the smartphone's display is expanded, the user will have two extra display portions noted above as Displays DA2 and DA3.

Samsung's patent FIG. 15 above illustrates a cross-sectional view of a reduction mode of an expandable display smartphone #500. In an expandable display device #500, the first guiding portion #25 includes a first inclined guiding portion #251 connected to the first roller housing #22, and a first flat guiding portion #252 connected to the first inclined guiding portion #251. The first inclined guiding portion allows the flexible display panel #70 to be smoothly slid by the flexible display panel being gently bent.

The second guiding portion #35 includes a second inclined guiding portion #351 connected to the second roller housing #32, and a second flat guiding portion #352 connected to the second inclined guiding portion #351. The second inclined guiding portion allows the flexible display panel to be smoothly slid by the flexible display panel being gently bent.

This type of smartphone could accommodate viewing home videos, movies, widescreen TV and playing games. The tradeoff would appear to be that the smartphone would have to be thicker than most premium smartphones today.

Samsung filed their U.S. patent application back in July 2017 and it was made public last week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Considering that this is a patent application, the timing of such a product to market is unknown at this time.

Apple event of March 27 will not be live streamed.

On Apple TV the  event application was updated today with new information which shows the upcoming Special educational event  at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago Illinois with not a live stream optuion. Instead Apple will upload a video of the event after it concludes.

Apple held an educational event back then in 2012 and did not stream it either. Well it is only for teachers and students.

However rumors were saying Apple might unveil new iPads at the event , maybe a low-cost model for students.

Apparently there will not be new iPads models for the general consumer in March 27.

Teckie Girl from China @MMDDJ_ has twitted today a report news  confirming  Samsung is deciding at this time to include a under display fingerprint sensor in the upcoming Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung is probably near to get this feature to work 100% in the device.

Image result for windows 10 actualizacion KB4088776

13 de marzo de 2018: KB4088776 (compilación del SO 16299.309)

Mejoras y correcciones

WebOS is now an Open source platform. LG Press Release.

Evolution of LG WebOS.

The WebOS  platform was originaly developed by Palm in a great effort to make new smartphones and tablets for the internet age. Palm made several Palm smartphones as PalmPre and one tablet called the TouchPad made by HP but they were not succesful.

However the software platform is the pioneer of many features of what you see and use on any iPhone or Android smartphone at this time.

HP bought Palm WebOS and sold it to LG who started to implement it on Smarts TV until now and keep going. LG made some smartwatches with WebOS to attend some cars makers companies like Audi, but did not go out with great volumens of  them for the consumer.

Now LG wants to go beyond the Smart TVs, refrigerators  and is offering WebOS as an Open Source to the public, encouraging you to make it work on new products as smartwatches, robots,  laptops, tablets etc as you can notice on the  above picture and here below.

Press Release:

As part of a broader effort to make webOS even more accessible to today’s consumers and industries, LG Electronics (LG) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a federal government body to more actively advance its philosophy of open platform, open partnership and open connectivity.

The National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) is the governmental body within South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) responsible for developing the country’s IT sector.

LG will solicit webOS business proposals from hundreds of start-ups recommended by NIPA and shortlist the most viable ones to provide logistical and technical support with commercialization as the ultimate goal. With LG’s backing, startups will take part in international events such as Open Source Summit and OSCON to share their ideas and initiatives with other industry influencers.

Toward its goal of expanding the webOS global footprint, LG developed an open source version of its platform, webOS Open Source Edition, now available to the public at

Developers can download the source code free as well as taking advantage of related tools, guides and forums on the site to become more familiar with webOS and its inherent benefits as a smart devices platform. And because webOS is a Linux-kernel-based multitasking OS with support for HTML5 and CSS3, webOS will be quite familiar to even new developers.

“When LG adopted webOS for our popular smart TV lineup in 2013, it did so with the knowledge that webOS had tremendous potential,” said Dr. I.P. Park, Chief Technology Officer at LG Electronics. “webOS has come a long way since then and is now a mature and stable platform ready to move beyond TVs to join the very exclusive group of operating systems that have been successfully commercialization at such a mass level. As we move from an app-based environment to a web-based one, we believe the true potential of webOS has yet to be seen.”

Apple is getting rid of the notch for 2019 iPhones.

Apple is preparing a new display without notch design for their new iPhones. This new display will be based on OLED and it is heard that it will be applied to new iPhones that will be released in 2019.

“Apple decided to get rid of notch design starting from 2019 models and is having discussions with relevant companies.” said a representative for an industry. “It seems that Apple is planning to implement full-screen that is more complete to its new iPhones.”

Apple will keep its face recognition technology called ‘Face ID’ for 2019 models. As a result, industries are interested on how Apple will be able to place receiver, front-camera, and Face ID feature and implement full-screen at the same time. Some display industries think that Apple will either drill holes into OLED panels or use BM (Black Matrix) area within displays.

Apple has been looking to implement full-screen design on its iPhones. “Our vision always has been to create a iPhone that has its front completely filled with a display.” said Apple while releasing iPhone X last year.

Apple is planning to release two 2018 models with OLED display and a 2018 model with LCD display during this fall.

It is heard that OLED models will be available in 5.85-inch display and 6.46-inch display while a LCD model will be available only in 6.04-inch model. All three of these models will have Face ID function and it is heard that there will be less bezel and smaller notch design.

Some phone manufacturers are copying Apple iPhone X design like ASUS from Taiwan who introduced its Smartphone called ZenFone 5 that looks exactly like Apple’s iPhone X at MWC 2018.

Other Chinese Smartphone manufacturers are imitating and applying notch design to their new Smartphones.

Rumors are saying even LG Electronics are also preparing new Smartphones with similar design as Apple’s notch design.

First Draws of Samsung Galaxy Note 9 surge. No back fingerprint scanner.

The first draw of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in September, shows a Infinity Display but a space for the S Pen in the left. Volume buttons in the left and in the right the power button.

The second draw shows a dual camera , flash, and no fingerprint scanner on the back anymore.

We think the Galaxy Note 9 will arrive with Intelligent Scan only and that is a new technology for Galaxy S9 and S9+ that combines face recognition and iris scan to make unlocking simple even in low light. So why needing a fingerprint scanner at all?

However it is uncertain at this time, if Samsung will include a under display fingerprint reader on the Galaxy Note 9.

Rumors are saying Samsung is still testing  that technology. So we have to wait to see if they succeed with that.

Meet the world’s first rechargeable proton battery. No more lithium.

Researchers say it’s a crucial step towards cheaper and more environmentally-friendly energy storage.

The RMIT-developed proton battery connected to a voltmeter. Photograph: RMIT

Researchers at RMIT university in Melbourne have created the world`s first rechargeable proton battery.

Despite the battery is just a small-scale prototype, it has the potential to be competitive with currently available lithium-ion batteries.

The rechargeable battery uses carbon and water instead of lithium.

The lead researcher Professor John Andrews said  “Lithium-ion batteries are great but they rely on ultimately scarce and expensive resources,” he said. “Hydro is also a good technology but suitable sites are limited and the cost may be very high.

“The advantage is we’re going to be storing protons in a carbon-based material, which is abundant, and we are getting protons from water which is readily available.”

The battery itself produces no carbon emissions and it can store electricity from zero-emissions renewables.

Andrews said it could be commercially available within five to 10 years.

“When it is commercially available, it would be a competitor to the Tesla Powerwall and then eventually we’d hope we might find applications at the scale of the huge Tesla battery [in South Australia] and even larger.”
